I'm having a hard time coming up with a good description of the engine compartment noise that I've been hearing for a while, so I hope someone can relate to it and point me in a direction to look. I hear it upon light acceleration and it sounds like a tinny tapping sound, almost like an air leak and it sounds like it's coming form the drivers side of the engine. I don't hear it at ilde when I stick my head under the hood, only when lightly accelerating, and I don't hear it 100% of the time. I hope that description is enough for someone to go on?? Thanks for any input!!

First thing you should try is a different fuel stop. Fuel up at a different place and add some Stanadyne Blue or similar additive and see if that helps. Sometimes poor fuel makes the pump and and engine make wierd noises.

I'm jumping all over this one, my truck has been doing the EXACT same thing since I bought it 40K ago. The dealer has no idea (of course) and it dosen't seem to be getting worse. Can't hear it when the truck is sitting still only when moving . Really strange.

I have a similar noise on my new truck. Also had it on my previous truck. I thought it was the transmission fill tube/stick vibrating but I stopped that vibration and the noise persisted. It almost sounds like a gasser with a very light "octane rattle", hard to pin it down over the the noise of the ISB/VP44.

I think it might be the fuel lines feeding the injectors that cause the noise. They are held pretty tightly in rubber mounts but seem to vibrate/buzz quite a bit under some conditions. You can feel them vibrate at idle if you hold your fingers on the lines.
