Common sense

Who's from Connecticut?

Not what pain/scars/or tattoos you have seen or heard of, but what you have experienced yourself. Let's hear about the most pain you've been in, what scars you have, and your tattoos.

I shot the tip of my finger off once, most pain. I had a broken left arm, but refused to stop shooting my . 22 rifle. I am left-handed so I tried to balance the rifle on my cast and shoot right-handed. I didn't realize my finger was infront of the barrel. Painful learning experience for a 13 year old.

Motorcycle wreck, broke right arm, helmet broke in half, cut my cheek. Slid on the concrete with my left hand tucked under me, ripping the skin off of it. Pain- the hospital waiting until I was conscience to scrub out the gravel with what looked like s S. O. S. pad. They stuck a rubber bite-piece in my mouth, didn't help!

Bar fight at Tequila Sunrise in Tijuana, Mexico. Chair on the head, nice scar! Stabbed in the right hip by a Filipino that spoke very little English on the mess decks of the ship, even nicer scar.

Irish Claddagh on right shoulder (1 1/2 hrs), St. Brigid's cross on small of back, flanked with trinity knots filled with Co. Donegal tartan (2 1/2 hrs). I want more tat's, maybe this year.

Cut the tip of my index finger badly once, my finger print was nearly cut completely off and it was bone deep. The cut itself really did not hurt at all, the numbing process for the stitches was unreal pain. It was so bad I refused to let him try to numb it, the doc was not real hot on sewing it up with no numbing either. At any rate sewing my fingerprint back on was the worst pain ever. Still amazes me how many nerve endings are in you finger tips.

Smashed the tip of my pinky finger once with a transmission, dropped the transmission and popped the end of it like a zit. The pressure blew the end of it open, it hurt pretty bad getting sewn up too.

A couple of broken ribs is hard to beat for the duration and intensity of pain. It just seems to hurt longer than anything else.

EDIT: I have a great scar, bike wreck that earned me 118 stitches in my head and a hole the size of a silver dollar in my skull over my right eye:--) , even took out part of my eye socket  about half of the stiches are inside the harline but the one over my eye is pretty decent. That and about 40 other stitches on my body in that one wreck. Got it in the war if you are a cute little blonde girl ;) . Appendix scar that could pass for a chainsaw wound is the only other real keeper.

No tats, usually have money for goofing off and buy guns instead.

got three bad ones, since two of them were from when I was younger and -175lbs, they cant be seen anymore. . but for a long time they looked mean.

1-about 10 years old, racing bikes... flipped because of a panic stopped before I went off the trail edge - off a the 6' drop into the stream. . hit font brakes, flipped, pushed handle bars end into ribs. Went off into the stream anyway... Ripped all sorts of skin off the chest. Felt like I broke ribs... but didnt. As I grew up and became "bigger"... the scares went from the front of my chest to the side. . by now 5x wider and on my back but cant see them anymore.

2- about 12year old, jumped into a yard over a fence to get a baseball by cuz hit over the fence, he did tell me that there was a dog that was bigger than me. I bolted for the fence with dog in hot pursuit. . has I jumped to the top rail of the fence, I kinda did a 180 to get my feet toward the landing which put my face back into the yard... and all I saw was a big dog jumping up the fence to eat me... his paw clawed my check and face...

3-Nothing bad till about 6 years ago. .

Problem starting my 1st gas powered large scale RC plane.

Make a long story short, got my forearm in the prop, took out a good chunk of meat. I had a nice large V cut out of my arm. It never hurt during or after. The only thing that hurt was the shots to numb the area to stich and staple me up. Now have about an 8" long scare below the elbo on the side of my forearm. After returning from getting stiched up and stapled back together again, I went out to put the plane away and clean up. I could see where all that meat from my arm went... for about 50' along the driveway and patio... flesh, muscle and blood like it went through a food processor and flung out by the prop.

Had a bad night in my teen years. I showed up at the wrong place at the time... . with the wrong friends. We got caught in a shooting and I ended up getting shot in my right knee by a . 22. Being that I'm a small guy, the 22 had enough power to make my knee give out, I hit my head on the concrete which knocked me out. The next thing I knew I was in a hospital bed with not only a gunshot wound to my leg, but I was also stabbed in my back 3 times.

One of the stab wounds was just a hair from my spine and almost left my parlized from my back down.

Doc said that I'd never walk again. Though after 6 months of intense emotions... I got myself back together and whoola... I'm good as gold (Just not worth as much. . LMAO).

Then a couple of years later, I was walking backwards and just as I turned around I tripped over one of them poles that was buried in the ground to play horseshoes with and ripped open the knee that I got shot in. So I got a pretty good war wound that basically covers my entire knee.

Thats the worst that I've had happen...

Worse or what?

Had a good friend when I was a kid. He was climbing a tree lost his grip and slid down the trunk of the tree. There was a nail sticking in the side of the tree! That was right up there in the pain ratio. Of course I saw worse things later in life. It feels better when it stops hurting... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... .....

Got caught with my pants down by a jealous husband, he took a swipe at me with a rather large jack knife; took 4" off my johnson, leaving me with only 13". Very painful!!!!Oo. Oo. Oo.

Worst scars are the ones that I don't show ANYBODY... About 5 years ago, I was spending all my free time with this cute Shania Twain-type chick... She had a cheap-o brass bed, with vertical bars making up the headboard.

We were going at it one night, doing the 'ol missionary style, when her pet cat jumped up on the bed. I felt the impact on the bed, and also saw it out of the corner of my eye. No problem. WRONG !!!

A few seconds later, I felt an excruciating pain slashing across the backside of my sack.

In between my bleeding all over her bed, (and later, through my underwear, jeans, and truck seat) we had the added problem of trying to remove her head from between the headboard bars. :D I always wondered at what her subsequent boyfriends thought about that headboard, and if she told them. I never did manage to catch that cat. Other scars, minor ones, from going through a full-length glass door when I was 4 years old. 4 inch scar across my right breast from a bar fight in my college days in New York. That one didn't hurt too bad, though.

No tattoos. If I ever get one, though, it'll be a Confederate battle flag.

And I'll never, never, ever date another chick that has cats. Not unless she likes them microwaved. :D

Have an old world compass on my neck and a tribal fish on my ankle... . would like more but haven't had any ideas or $$.

No scars that could compete with the likes of you guys,

Have a nice dent in my skull from when I was a wee one running too fast on a wood floor, slipped and got crowned by an old brass radiator.

I had a '86 Kenworth pulling two 40' belly dumps full of gravel run a red light and hit me on the drivers side of my CJ-5. 28" depression on the driver's side. Ripped the front end completely off, and put the steering wheel on the passinger side. Seat belt broke, I went into the windsheild then came out the driver side. I torn part of the jeep body out using my hip. Landed on the passinger side front fender of the Kenworth.

I recieved a dislocated left hip with a fractored pelvis, closed head injury, and nerve damage. It took 70 staples to close the incision after the 1st surgery. So I have a scar about 14" long on my bum. The nerve pain is by far the worst.

Tell me there isn't something watching out for me:

At three years old my Pop bought me a tricycle. Drove it as fast as I could into a block wall and bent the front wheel. That was the first major crash. Since then I have wadded up every bike, trike, skateboard, scooter, dirtbike,Quad, surfboard, mountain bike, and girl that I have ever tried to ride hard. Too many scars to list. Been Shot, beat, stabbed, robbed, jumped on,draged, through regular ol' hard livin' for 35 years. As for Tattoo's: Got em up and down both arms, on my legs, and whole back. I Tattoo for a living and I have seen it all... ... ... :D Greg

Ran my finger through my tablesaw day after Christmas. It split the finger up to the first knuckle but did not take off any length. It is still healing up but is doing better.

Worse pain of my life was a back injury. Put me on the floor and I had to crawl from my car to the house. Excruciating!!!

Tattoo of an eagle landing on the Scales of Justice on my back.

Kiney stones on two occasions. Once when I was 16, then again at 17. I just toughed them out cause I knew what they were gonna do if I went to the ER. Course the two blown out discs in my back were a blast! All this in 22 short years :D .

I was riding my Mt Bike on a busy street when a Z-28 Camaro cut in front of me. I landed shoulder first into the windshield. Impact bent the A-Post of the car. Didn't break a single bone but recieved over 200 stitches in my Shoulder. That hurt :{

Woman who was driving had no license (Non-US Citizen) and ran (on foot) from the scene. They found her later and sent her back to her country.

Not sure these stack up up to others but

1. Champagne flight that exact same thing happened to me climbing a tree slid down right on a nail ripped open my stomach.

2. Was climbing a barbed wire fence right next to a post was pulling my self up by the wire and a 1 inch fencing staple in the post flew out went right into my eye. Pulled it out went running home to mom then to hospital got home 2 weeks later. That was back in 69 eye surgery wasn't what is today.

3. Fell out of a car I was driving at about 60 miles an hour. (read drunk teenager) I know what the previous guy was saying about scrubbing out the debris. Just a few stitches here and there but one hell of a lot of pain. Blacktop at sixty tends to rub your skin off.

4. Then just last year from the eye accident I had a cataract in that eye that was really starting to obstruct my vision so had cataract surgery went great. About 5 days later I got a bad headache at work so bad that I went home. I could barely drive by the time I got home and it just got worse. I have had some pretty painful things happen over the years but this was far and away the worst pain I have ever experienced. Anyway the wife gets home finds me lying on the bed with my hands on head moaning. Calls the eye doctor gets a prescription no good has me come in first thing in the morning. I get in the chair he checks my eye pressure it is at 70. Normal is less than 20. Then sob says bet it hurts huh. Then he literally stuck a needle in my eye. My eye started draining like a hole in a water balloon. Instant relief. First time I ever heard that a sharp stick in the eye was a good thing.
