I have a '95 2500. The TC kept kicking in and out. Several of you saved me some $$$s for a while by recommending I clean TPS when TC was acting up. I have been doing that for some 6 months. It finally got so bad I bought a brand new TPS for $130. 00 from dealer. I installed it, and guess what? It is still acting up. Any help is deeply appreciated. Confused in TX.

I had a similar problem last winter. I spent a few days in -10 weather, did not plug in the heater before starting but did wait for start light to go out. On the ride home I started getting problems. The TC was kicking in and out of OD on the interstate. I got onto state roads and made it home, about 150 miles, the problem didn't happen at 45-60. A few days later it was acting up even at low speeds after about 2 miles. I had the dealer look at it, took the mechanic for a test drive, and the concensus was a new fuel pump. This fixed the problem. Not sure if this is what you need but it worked for me.
This past week I noticed the Tach going up about 200 RPM for a few seconds then back. Truck in OD and not shifting in or out, cruise set at 70. Adjustment to the "TV" cable to transmission fixed this.

You've got a short somewhere, plain and simple. I would go over all my connectors for starters and make sure you're getting good contact. While you're at it, squirt some dielectric compound in them to keep the moisture out, as things have been cold and damp around here lately.

I have a pretty good idea what might be happeneing... Could be your trans temp sensor (TTS) in the line coming out of the front of the transmission. A few parameters to be "gray" (NASA talk) in order for lockup to happen. One of which is the TTS.

First, check the connections in the little plug. More often than not, they get screwed up and cause a bad connection. If that all looks ok, then replce the TTS.

If the TTS and the TPS all check out ok, and are working properly, check the wiring for the sensors and the TCC. If that all checks out ok, the problem lies in the PCM and may need to be flashed/replaced.

Keep us posted!

BTW, and fault codes in the PCM?

Check connection to Engine speed sensor. Also check wires going to Engine speed sensor and TPS.

my 94 does the same thing, cleaned term. last year and it helped. always starts the surge in the fall when temps are cooler, never happens in summer, havent tried replacing the tps yet but i did cover the trans cooler with card board and the problem went away, seems like if the transmission fluid is warm it wont act up. actually i covered the whole radiator also and still not alot of heat in the cab, engine temp is a little higher than my normal of about 145-155 deg. i think im gonna go ahead and take the fan off for the winter. my '01 will make enough heat for the cabs of both trucks (nice & warm) anyone get a sure fix for the winter time t/c surge(other than blocking the cooler) let me know. thanks

I wiggled wires around, and so far the tc and tps have not acted up. Maybe this was the problem. Thanks to everyone for the advice.
