Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) New Turbo?

I have a 98 1/2 - 24 valve slush bucket. I have installed the Mystery switch. I had new batteries installed about a week ago and haven't driven the truck much since then. Today I noticed it locking up and then immediately unlocking and it is doing it in 3rd or :{ 4th. I can activate the Mystery switch and it stays locked up so I'm fairly sure the TC is OK. I have read where it may be dirty battery connections (both ends). Does anyone have any other ideas or do I need to possibly replace the TPS. ( I think that's what it's called)

Thanks Goldmaker

The TPS ( APPS in 98. 5 ) is expensive and will probably not fix the problem.

Make sure you clean the ground connectors coming from the passenger side battery as well as the terminals. The best fix is a noise filter from DTT about $40.

Thanks, you're the second person to tell me that so I'll order one tomorrow. I have cleaned all the connections, reset the APPS and made sure the unit behind the air cleaner is grounded but still no good. Soooo, time for the Noise Filter. Thanks again. . :) :D

Being the batterys were disconnected you should reprogram the TPS. to do that disconnect the negaitive battery cables on both batteries for about thirty min. then reconnect them, turn the key on to start without starting, then slowly push the throttle all the way down and let up slowly. then start the truck should be good to go.

TC hunt

After having a Banks Git-Kit installed my '99 started the hunt thing -- terribly while towing. Installer called Banks. "Noise" was their answer, and Dodge has a tech sheet out on it. Seems they have a cure. Anyone know the bulletin number?

You all did GOOD

I just finished installing the DTT Noise Filter. ($37 + Shipping) It works Great, just like it did before something caused the alternator to create more noise. Thanks to all for your help.

Thanx. Camping World called Banks, they pushed it off on Dodge. The TSB is indeed 18-02-99 called "Erratic Torque Convertor Clutch Operation. " So now I'm off to see Cal & his dog, Spot (Cal Worthington CA ad)

Being new to the register: DTT? Just in case Cal dances around the fix. ~or why not anyway?

Their phone number is 1-866-504-4002. SUPER nice people to talk to and their noise filter works Great. I haven't tried the dieseltrans site.
