I saw the announcement on the home page regarding a Diesel 101 class out in Nevada. I like the idea, but I'm in Texas and would probably be more suited to a slightly more advanced class. I know how engines work, but don't know all the ins and outs about diesels. Is there any chance someone will run a similar class as the Diesel 101, but where the focus is on something as involved as overhauling a diesel engine? Also, is there any chance an issue of TDR could detail complete overhauls of diesels? That may be an entire issue all by itself, but it would make a great reference. Especially if it included all the tips and tricks members have developed to make the work easier,

I got the impression the "class" was a dealership's way of bringing in prospective customers by telling them they'll even train you how to adapt to a diesel pickup.

Might have not read it too close.

It would prettty hard to have a class in a day that covered diesel overhauls. Maintenance methods alone can take up an afternoon by themselves.

I would like to see a consolidated TDR special issue of Engine Mods and rebuld tips. That would be a very good reference, so long as it was at least an inch thick?? :)

There are many good books on this sort of thing... granted, a book is no substitute for hands-on-experience. But it's a place to start.
