TDR Grill Badge

Purchased the TDR grill badge from Genos. I was expeceting it to mount with long screws through the honeycomb but it came with just the flat badge and velcro. How are you guys mounting these??

Grill badge

Use a couple 1/4-20 ss bolts. Use a die grinder to score the back of the badge so that the JB weld will hold good. Let it setup 24 hours and install. Done mine that way and it has been on for about a year with no problem.

Just put mine on with silicone, been on for a year or so.

I got a short closet bolt. They are the ones that you use to attach a toilet down to the closet flange. The have a large flat head and come in stainless or brass. I used some 5 minute epoxy to attach it to the back of the TDR badge. I bolted it through the grill. Very quick and easy.

Contact area

Thanks Steve, I like the idea of having a larger contact area for a good bond. Will try this weekend. You guys are all great. Appreciate the help.

Stick it in the middle of the bumper with 3M automotive badge tape. It'll hold it longer than the truck will last. I never liked the ide of sticking on the grill and it doesn't stick to stainless grill screen too well anyway. Mr Fixit- good to see another dieselhead in OC!!

Thanks for the tip Kev, but I glued the screws on last night while replacing timing belt on my Cressida. You gotta love multiple projects. Where abouts are you? I am in Westminster. I have contacted the local TDR chapter in LA to see about upcomming local events. This is really a great site with a bunch of nice people.

Ramon- I'm in Orange, used to live in Westminster, so I know the area. There are a few TDR boys in and around Orange County, although there doesn't seem to be any real organized chapter here just yet. I have gone south with a few of the guys to San Diego are for a few get togethers, but it is a trek. Gary C (user name) is the one who has been kinda keeping the Southern group together. It would be very nice to see an organized group or even a separate (members permitting) group in OC. PM me if you need anything and I can give you a call.

Well, it appears that Geno's is now shipping the badges with a stud welded/glued/affixed to the back of the badge.



Unfortunately, I did not want the stud because I wanted to double-back tape one of the to the passenger side of the cab (already got one on the driver's side) and then tape the other on the back of my camper. I wanted people to see them while I passed them!!!!!



Since I don't have a complete machine shop with arc welder, 15 gazillion piece Master Craftsman tool set, vehicle lift, sawzall, et al, in my impatience and clumsiness, I managed to destroy both. Oh well, guess I'll have to order a couple more with my next filter order.



Hey Geno's: How about stocking both????? I understand why they put the stud on it. There have been so many postings about people having a problem attaching the badge to the grill. I have a smooth-backed badge on the grill now that is held in place with silicon sealer. It's been there for close to a year now.



I destroyed them, it's my fault, not Geno's. But I sure would have liked to know in advanced that these came with studs now.



Oh well.

as to how I was going to securely mount

the badge but with a stud at least some

idiot cannot walk by and pick/peel it off.



I agree, Genos' should stock both styles!

I used 3M automotive tape and placed on door above RAM3500 emblem.
