Just purchased a TDR grille badge from Geno's for my new 2002 (man I love this truck). Does anyone know the size of the threads on the post (it does not come with a wing nut) or the best way to attach it to the grille?

Well, uh, how do I tell you. .

It doesn't come with a post. It's just the badge. There are NO provisions for mounting. Some people use tape/glue/etc...

What I did was use a strong machine screw with a tiny head, and drilled a hole in the badge, ran the screw thru the honeycomb in the grill, then used a ??nut (the kind which goes thru sheetrock and then expands. . u know, the springloaded ones) and tightened up. I then painted the head of the screw to match the badge... it's invisible from more than 1 or 2 ft away (the screw head, that is)

The new ones come with a stud attached! (I don't know the thread size)

But, I'm guessing it's probably a 10-24, 1/4-20 or 5/16-18. With a small investment at a hardware store you could have the hardware on hand for the arrival. I recommend stainless and don't forget the washer!

Grile badge now has a post

Thanks for the info. The new badge does have a post. It is a fine machine thread. I will measure the threads and see what I can find. Just thought I would check out what others have done first rather than "reinventing" the wheel!

Just Bought One From Robin Yesterday

I hope they don't give me an old one. I'm putting it in the expanded metal on my front end replacement.

Is it too difficult to put a nut and a couple washers with the thing?

Its not a real big deal. However, I wanted to put mine on last night, but did not have a nut that would fit in my scrap bins.

just an idea

i would think that GENO'S could charge an extra dollar and include a large washer and nut. probably would not hear any complaints from anyone. i know when i got mine,i had to wait a day or two until i was able to find a large washer. no big deal, but you know how we just can't wait when we get something new.

Mine is a #8 nft.

Okay do we want some cheese with the whine of the verbal turbo. You would think that for the amt of $$$$ we spend on our rides that a #8 nut would be... ... shall we say... not an issue. :p

My TDR grille badge did not come with a post, so I just JB Welded an elvator bolt to the back of the badge and used a washer and nut on the other end to hold the badge to the grille, works great.
