You TDR members have been a big help in my "education" I am going to use a edge EZ and a 4 inch exhaust no other bomb's except gauges.

Now the question?

What kind of exhaust is best and what will it cost installed?

--I don't want to sound like a 18 wheeler a little more noise is fine from stock.

BOOM's?

Hey CG just a little note before everyone starts picking on you, It suppose to be BOMB's not BOOM's. By the way, I just installed a JRE 4" on my truck and I love it. Sounds a little deeper when you floor it but at cruising speed it is quiter. It also cut down some of the vacuum cleaner noise that my psychotty caused in the cab. The cab is much quiter now. I also noticed a difference in my EGT's and cool down is much faster, also spool up is very quick. The cost was $550 and I installed it myself, but had a muffler shop do a little welding for me for $35, came out nice. You will get many different opinions on this so it's up to you to decide. Good luck. Dwayne... ... . :D If you meant to say booms then i take back my first sentence. Late

I have the JRE kit too. Its great. You dont really notice its there at Idle, only when you really get on it, and if you have the windows closed, you wont notice it too much

I will be putting a Jardine 4" on my truck soon. They sound awesome. I cant give you a head to head with the other systems out there, cause every one I know in this area is either straight piped or has the Jardine. Ps good choice on the EZ box, that is the first thing i did to my truck, it makes a huge difference in performance, you will be all smiles

CG.

I just went with 4" pipe to a 5' stack I got just over $350 in to it and I need 9 clamps to finish it hope to be done by Friday. Dont know how loud it will be?

Take a look

Stacks

Good Luck

exhaust

I have the Jardine exhaust and right away noticed difference in turbo spin up. I only noticed a little louder exhaust tone over 2000 rpms. It is mostly noticable from the outside. I did not notice how mean it sounded until I went to pick it up from the dealership. I was outside and heard something crank up around back and as they pulled it up. I had a big smile on my face because it just sounded mean echoeing off the building.

I had a local muffler shop install the entire thing including welding on Geno's 5 inch tip. It cost me $180.

You can't go wrong with the Jardine! They sound AWESOME! They also bolt right on, no welding. They cost around $450.

Jardine, Jardine,Jardine

I can't say I have had an easier install on my BOMBs. I Think it took about 2 hours including cutting off the old system and installing the new. I bought a stailess steel 5" tip also, high quality. Call Jerry Jardine, you can see his exhaust deal on

www.wwcd2.com. His phone # is there also.

I noticed a quieter interior first, then quicker turbo spool up, Deeper tone and one BAD *SS tip :D

I think the Jardine is the quietest, but not quiet by any means, of the aftermarket exhaust systems I have heard. JRE is a little louder IMO.

From what I understand you cannot go wrong with Jardine for installation, price, and performance.

I have heard numerous exhaust systems at our BOMB parties... in my mind, the Jardine 4" sounds the best. It is an easy install, etc, as is said above!

I have the BD 4", but would probably get the jardine next time.

I had the BD 4", really liked it until I got the stack. I know that the guys at Auto Wurks Diesel have been installing the Bully Dog system quite a bit, from what I understand it is installer and customer friendly. I also thought I didn't want that 'big rig sound' until I had it, now there's no turing back.

Question for BIG BOB

Big Bob,

I was seriously thinking about a 4" system. But have been reading on TDR and talked to some knowledgeable people that at least a mile high a 4" system would be a waste of time. I have an EZ on order and that is just a prelude to trans work and then I will see where I go from there. I got to tow with and yes it does have an automatic. When I noticed your post and that you are in Idaho I thought you might be at a higher altitude and I thought I would ask you a question or two or ???

Anyway,

1. Are you at a high altitude?

2. Notice any improvement in mileage due to the exhaust system?

3. How is the overall mileage and performance of your rig?

Looked at your pictures, well done!

Thanks,

Dave

DKGross,

The elevation I am at is 2500 ft. which is not very high. In my opinion you probably would not need a 4" exhaust unless you decided to go to some big injectors (DD or BD II's or III's) or started adding another box (PE, Blue Box or PE Comp etc. ). Do not overlook gauges since you are going to tow, they are a must!

When you modify you trans, get ahold of Bill K, at DTT. He has the best setups for the auto trans.

My truck is pretty heavily BOMBed. I'm over 400 hp. When I added the Jardine, I also did some other BOMBing, so really did not check mileage at that time. I drive pretty hard, love the power. I get between 15 to 18 mpg with combination driving, in town and highway.

Thanks for the kind words about the "White Obsession". And it HAULS A$$!
