I think the guy that breaks the most should get a free lifetime membership, bet I'm in the runnin. Somehow can't take alot of pride in it though.

Cheers,

Steve J

Steve i hate to say it but i don't think you would have to pay for a membership from now until you stop working..... ;)

On a serious note. You really have breaking alot lately (or is that normal occurance?). Either way i hate to keep reading your posts about how the ATS trans went here or there. And how your bearing decided to break your spindle. Daves diesel must really love you!!!! After all you're paying for his kids to go through college. ;)

I would like to see the discounted rate for membership.

How about a auto renewel? to a charge card or something like it? I love the idea of a multi year membership package :D Bring it on yeah. anybody think about a TDR visa/master card with our logo plastered on the card? just a thought :) . anyone how hard it would be to make a patch so we could put it on a leather or denim vest like the bikers do? TDR? under the emblem your chapter ( Tdr club)and state and ?. You can get cummins gear and Dodge gear everywhere But I think the TDR is unique we care enough about our passion to join a club, have our own website and tell dodge when they screw up we make mods to our trucks to make them better ( I really think dodge does pay attention but are just dimwitted slow to act suits)so as the bikers clubs say show your PRIDE. Just a thought Man my new vitanin amino complex really got me thinking alot sorry for the rant TOD

I was just thinkin the same thing and ran across this thread on a search... it's time for me to renew and since I don't plan on EVER not owning a CTD, I'd love to get a lifetime membership. Should I go on strike and not renew until a lifetime/multi-year membership is offered? ;)

i also like this idea... many magazines offer multi year subscriptions...

or if not this, the option for automatic renewal so we don't have to think about it until if one ever decides to leave...

Honestly, I Forgot

Sorry, guys. I simply put this on a to-do list and completely forgot about it. Let me see what we can come up with.

Lifetime Membership

We have looked at this issue, and there is no way to offer a "lifetime membership" as a renewal option. I'm very sorry, but it just doesn't make sense for either you or us.

We do like the idea, however, and are looking at giving "lifetime memberships" as "gifts" to folks who do things on behalf of the TDR.

More to follow.

Robin after thinking it over a Lifetime membership to any magazine or club makes no sense at all. With the average owner buying a new automobile every 2 to 5 years loyalties and brands change so would magazines and clubs. But have you thought about a multi year membership? or a auto renewal to a credit card? I find being in the military and being a long haul trucker that auto renewal makes things alot easier. Lets face facts some of us are real busy and things get put on the back burner and forgotten( ya I will take care of that next week yep never happens) a 5 year membership package might be helpful for all less bookwork for you and less worry for us just a thought. mabe offer a belt buckle or some other gift for a multi year membership? :D I hope you and your family have a fun and a safe forth of july 2005. please pass this idea past your staff and see what they think. I look forward to reading your reply.

I would go for the multiyear, but not so sure about lifetime.

OK, sign me up - Whatdaya need? :D

Really though, that's not a bad idea - if you need something, post it and see if any members might volunteer to help out. You've got nothing to loose, and you never know what skillsets are lurking out there. Heck, I'd rewrite your classified section web code for nothin, it could use a little work.

The travel companion is a good example of many good people here that want to help others. Try us - you might be surprised.

What problems do you see with the classifieds section? I looked at a ton of off the shelf classified ad software and this was by far the best I could find. Then I modified it for our use (with the TDR Member/non-member stuff). If there's stuff you'd like to see improved give us some ideas - we do take user suggestions very seriously.

Hi Steve,

Don't get me wrong, this a great web site. What makes it even better is the quality of the people around here. That's what I was mostly getting at.

But as long as you asked, here's a few ideas...

Distance based search - The items typically posted here are often too big or too heavy to be shipped feasibly, so people are often going to be interested in items that are not too far away. If I want to buy a truck, I might only want to go look at one within say 100 miles of where I live. How about having people type in the zip code of where the item is located when posting an ad, then have a search by or sort by distance option. If not that, it would at least be handy to have a zip or city/state shown on the pages that list the items so you don't have to click into each ad to see where the item is located.

Email notification - How about letting a user type in a few keywords, and when an ad is posted that has a match, send an email so I know to go look at the ad. If I'm interested in say tires, or maybe a hitch, it might be a while before someone posts one, and I may not want to have to check every day for something that might not get posted for weeks or more.

Truck specifics - Many of the ads are for the trucks themselves. When entering an ad for a truck, there could be a form that lets the poster pick various attributes of the truck such as regular/quad/mega cab, short/long bed, SRW/DRW, 5 Spd/6 Spd/Auto, etc. Then have a search for those attributes. Right now there are separate areas for gen1/gen2/gen3, but with this change, the generation would be just one of many captured attributes. If someone wants to buy a truck, usually they will only want one with certain attributes. It might depend of their how heavy their trailer is, or the type of hitch on it, or how many kids they have, or just plain personal preference. A search based on various attributes would be handy, and could be done if those things were captured as separate fields when the ad was entered.

It has this now - click on "Auto Notify" on the menu bar and you can do exactly this. You do have to have an account created in order to do this. FYI - the classified accounts are seperate from the forums because we let non-members post ads. I'll look into your other ideas.

anything new on this multi year subscription? i really would like that...
