TDR Logo- permission to use in Vinyl decal?

One of my Employees' husband works for a sign shop and they do that vinyl lettering and logos and the like for truck fleets and buildings etc. While I know some people felt it a stupid idea, I found there to be some interest in creating a small TDR vinyl decal for the rear (or side) windows. If I had them made, I would obviously make them available to everyone here if it was wanted. I have absolutely no idea on cost (would radically depend on quantity). I would not be in it to profit either. Who owns the TDR logo and who do I get the permission for its use from?? And what suggestions/size do you guys want to see???

Hit the "Contact Us" button at the bottom of any page and email them. I believe it's Robert Patton who you need to ask. Last time I saw him he gave me a handful of TDR vinyl logos, Black and Gold and I gave them to friends.

Are you thinking about having them made in small and large sizes?



I would like 6 in a 3"-4" dia. size and also 3-4 in a larger size, maybe 8"-10" (for lockers, toolboxes, shop cabinet doors, etc)

I figured it was Patton, but wasn't sure. Yes I was thinking on a couple of sizes, one about the size of Genos grill badge and the other like you said, about 4-5 inches. I'll get in touch with Patton and keep you posted when I find out more details.

OK- There is some guidelines to be followed, but got a preliminary OK from Robin. I already took the information to the shop, and should be getting pricing (per quantity) soon. I understand there is also another member going about the same thing, and I have contacted him to see what he had planned to do. I would definetely be willing to get the ball rolling, maybe I could get Geno's involved too. I was basically looking at something similar (rather identical) to the Grill badge, but available both in that size and in 6" version. That should cover all but about the poster size installations. The guy told me with vinyl it could get expensive to do the gradient scale that is found on the TDR site iteself. I will keep all posted on this, and let you know when we have approval for a go ahead from the TDR.

Oilbrnr- I feel it necessary to step in and defend the TDR here- they have their hands full enough as it is. I happen to be in the photographic/publishing biz and know a bit about what it takes to put a magazine out (postage & publishing) - remember to only 8500 or so subscribers. Not to mention the cost of keeping and maintaing a valueable website for us all to meet on. I pay more than that for far less useful info. And again the TDR has grown more by word of mouth than advertising.

There are over 15k TDR subscribers, it has been around for years, and a >$1 sticker is not that difficult to source. I belong and have belonged to several other national auto organizations, with monthly publications, lower subscriber numbers, little to no paid advertizing and always got some kind of placard/sticker.



And more CTD owners see the back of my truck in one week of commuting to work, then I'll speak to in a year. Think about the power of www.turbodieselregister.com and the logo on the back window of all our Rams. Now that is an item that should be available in Geno's for a couple of bucks, and help the organization at the same time.

He has his pricing, I'm still waiting for mine. Will get a final by Monday at the latest and will let everyone know. (Of course after TDR approval).
