Getting ready to attempt to do the transmission flush on my 2001. 5 2500 with R47, stock. I read a TDR article from May/June July of 2009 (#64) on how to pull the cooler line and pump it out using the transmission pump itself and stopping just in the nick of time to not cavitate the pump. Sounds a little scary. Hope I can see it coming out and get to my ignition fast enough... ?
The article says at one point to "Pinch off the return line... " This throws me off. Does the author want me to plug the return line after I disconnetc it at the cooler? I would think that I should just leave the return line open during the flush procedure.
Plus... I haven't found any RECENT threads on flushing the transmission this way. Has there been any changes in opinions in the past several years about doing the flush with this method? Is there a better way now?
Thanks in advance,
