Just an FYI

I just wanted to state that I was not representing TDR's opinion on the issue in my last post. Just my own thoughts... . its anybody's guess as to their reasons but I can say from knowing Robert and Robin that their lives can be quite busy!

I'd buy 'em. Bootleg copying isn't a big issue..... Some other hobby periodicals are available on CD-ROM. QST and Ham Radio immediately come to mind. They wouldn't do it if there wasn't a market.

Still nothing....?

With so many people saying that they would buy it, and that just being a fraction of the real number, why has there not been anything said from the bigwigs? Come on guys, you have to admit that it would be nice. Even more so if there was an index on the thing that we could type in, and it find the closest thing... ... . oh I'd better quit drooling. :D

We're Listening ...

I apologize for not posting an acknowledgement to this thread sooner, but the holidays have us hopping. We (like everyone else) are short staffed, and the details are falling through the cracks.

We realize there is a market for some/all back issues on CD-ROM. Right now, however, we do not have the staff available to do the research (to investigate the viability of this option). Many of the early back issues were laid out manually and do not exist in electronic format. They certainly could be scanned, etc. , but some research would have to be done to determine what all would be involved (time, cost, quality, etc. ).

The newer magazines could more easily be transferred to an appropriate format for distribution via CD-ROM.

Also (although this is not a determining factor) we have a small warehouse of print back issues needing to be distributed. Some of the older volumes/issues are out of print and no longer available, but we still have many [if not most] of them available in print.

The purpose of my post is to let you know that we are listening and that we will look into this issue during 2002, if at all possible.

Thank you for the idea, the enthusiasm and for your continued support!

CD ROM

Robin, i'll bet that if you asked for the issues you don't have, some of the earlier members would have any issue you're misssing, and be willing to loan them for copying???? as a recent member, i'd like access to some of the older issues.

Thanks for responding... ... Happy New Year!!!!

Heck ya, I'd jump on the band wagon also! One major plus of CD's over Paper is the ease of searcing for information. PLus, you don't have to get your copy all messed up if you are using it for reference while working on a truck!

I'll want one too, with the past issues as well. Since we fulltime in a 5er that would enable us to keep old issues. At present we have to throw them out due to space and weight.
