I don't know where this should be posted but it seems to fit only in the General Diesel Topics Forum.

I received TDR magazine issue #71 in the mail yesterday and spent two or more hours last night scanning and selectively reading the articles and comments that most interested me.

The TDR magazine, in my opinion, is the best automotive or recreational vehicle magazine published anywhere. The articles are written by extremely knowledgeable and skilled writers who are Ram owners. Most of them are just ordinary enthusiast owners who actually own and use the trucks every day to do what the trucks were designed to do and what they write about. The depth, breadth, and quality of the articles are simply outstanding. The writers and articles answer our questions and provide information and advice that applies to our ownership experiences.

As I flipped through the issue last night reading Editor Robert Patton, Jim Anderson, Joe Donnelly, John and Polly Holmes, Bill Stockard's selected compilations, Greg Whales who is not only an owner enthusiast but a professional journalist, Kevin Cameron, Doug Leno, Andy Redmond, the filter analysis by John Martin, and others I thought "Wow!, This is Good!" The same is true of Steve St. Laurent's auto show articles just posted on the TDR website.

I wasn't a member in the early days when the TDR and TDR magazine were just beginning but since 2001 when I began reading TDR magazine I have seen the TDR grow and improve with each and every issue. The technical content, organization, and look of the magazine is better than any glossy so-called professional magazine I have ever (formerly) subscribed to.

Best of all, I KNOW most of the writers who write for TDR and I KNOW that what they write is what they believe to be the most truthful and accurate information available. TDR is NOT influenced by advertising dollars and our editor's and writer's opinions are not for sale!

TDR membership is a great value and great experience. When I think back to June 2001 when I bought by first Ram and what I knew about the use, care, and feeding of diesel engines I am very grateful to TDR. When I remember the two or three TDR rallies I attended near Kerrville, TX or the big one for me held at Cummins MREP in Columbus, IN in summer of 2002 I am even more grateful. The new friends I have acquired over my years of membership are some of my most interesting and valued friends.

The fact that I can pick up my phone and call or email some truly knowledgeable friends who will take my calls or respond to me e-mails if I have a problem or question about my truck is an advantage I could not put a value on. Years ago when my '01 Ram HO/six speed lost power and could hardly tow my trailer I called Bill Stockard and Joe Donnelly. They actually diagnosed a problem that my Dodge dealer could not diagnose under warranty and, sadly, did not even believe I had. If not for gauges and the TDR I would not have been sure either. I returned to the dealership and told the service manager and technician what Bill and Joe told me to check. Within 30 minutes my truck was restored to full power. That is VALUE.

To the editor and staff of TDR, please accept my admiration and appreciation. Well Done!

Well, I can make one if you need to read one.

I think Furd trucks suck. I wasn't always a Furd hater, I owned several of them in years passed. I owned a '76 Furd F-250, an '86 Ranger, a '90 F-150, and a '94 F-250HD with 460 gas hog. All of them tied together by chains couldn't pull my current fifth wheel up a grade at greater than 10 mph.

I really learned how lousy the Sick. Ohh was when I encountered fellow RV transporters who owned new Sick. Ohhs beginning in '05. Their Sick. Ohh Furds with King Ranch leather seats were all losing engines with catastrophic failures and as soon as the trucks went out of warranty, the poor suckers that owned them were ruined financially. They lost their jobs transporting, had their trucks repossessed, and some filed bankruptcy. I knew transporters that owned '06 Sick. Ohhs that had already owned one or even two failed Furd Sick. Ohhs. The only way they could keep going was to roll the debt into a new truck loan by buying another pos that soon failed also.

I figured that he was just fine... ... :-laf

Very nice compliment to the TDR by the way, Harvey.

Mike:)

I agree, always look forward the getting the TDR. Saw John Holmes in Carson City Wally World a while back, was up from Texas. Had a nice chat. Keep up the good work.

Harvey,
I was worried that something was wrong... glad you're OK.
Eddie

Thanks, Eddie. I"m feeling fine. Real good, actually, for an old guy.

A friend is coming over in an hour or so on his Goldwing and we're going riding together this afternoon. It's a beautiful sunny day with temps predicted to reach the upper 60*s this afternoon here on the south and rolling plains of Texas.

Good comment on TDR Harvey. It made me think that the TDR is the only Diesel magazine I have ever subscribed to. Just haven't thought of any good reason to subscribe to anything else, since I get all the info and more that I need from the magazine and espeially here on the boards. And I like that I don't have to sort through all of the non-Cummins writing to get the info I need.

Yes, the TDR magazine as well as the TDR Website is a very valuable recourse to all of us, and you Harvey have pointed out this very well. I first became involved with Robert and Robin patton at the first TDR rally held in Carson City NV back around 1994 or 95, where I also met John and Polly Holmes. and GR Whale. SUPER people, and have since that time, become more knowledgable than most dealerships that I have ever encountered.

You, Harvey, have told it like it is, as many of us have received tons of information and knowledge by reading the TDR as well as getting information from the thousands of owners, both in the magazine and the excellent website!

I am proud to be one of the group,

I have been a member from the first issue,I use the old ones for reference on specific repair jobs. While some other mags stoop to only shilling advertisers goods. TDR is better than that. Great content, great service, great entertainment.

I always recommend TDR to all of my friends and aquaintances for the quality of the information and support. I have all of my TDR mags since I joined in 05 and refer back to them constantly.

Keep up the great work TDR!

TDR, one and only...

Thank you H Barlow, well written!

I researched the TDR website 6-months before deciding on the right vintage truck for me and my purpose. I became a member as soon as I purchased my CTD. TDR is one of the most valuable resources I have ever encountered in all my gear head life. I have felt confident and ahead of the learning curve with the knowledge gained through TDR.

Gratefully, Patrick.

Couldn't agree more Harv. Ever thought of being this rational when it comes to politics?

In the fall of '07 after I bought my truck, my wife asked what I wanted for Christmas. I told her a subscription to TDR. When I was opening the envelope on Christmas day, she said 'That lady at TDR was the nicest person I have ever talk to" - after me of course. Nice way to start a relationship.

I am just as rational when I speak of politics as on other issues.

You could learn from reading what I and the other conservatives post.
