Sincerely Mark T.

Starting to sound like the Ford diesel site now...

I've had good AND bad experiences at the same dealership before within the same 6 months. Good service techs/service writers come and go.

If I were to report a good experience at a dealership and someone takes that advice, goes there and has a bad experience and reports back that I misled them, is the TDR gonna boot my @#$%$ off for a while too??? again.

Let's imagine the bad experience leads to major expense to the owner, could I be held liable? Could the TDR be held liable??

Let's look at another biased scenario. While Tomeygun has proved himself to many members of this site alone that he sells trucks at great deals. As a member he could report on this "List" that his service department provides very exceptional work. He couldn't report anyone having a bad experience, that's bad business for him and I'm sure his employer doesn't want him doing that either. Keep in mind, I'm only using this as a scenario and have no idea of the ability/quality of his dealership and frankly its too far away to care. :D

I could go on and on for days about all the loopholes and bad scenarios there are to this idea.

Hey TPCDrafting,

So what is your idea of a sugestion to the posters question, say nothing good for fear someone will hold you liable ? I'm in the service bis. to and if it was not for word of mouth our whole economy would'nt be were it is today! Saying that, please don't take this as pointed, but my example did'nt say positive or negative remarks,,,, Just the facts ! In closing ,if anything would cause concern to a moderator, I would think it would be a slander lawsuit for laying a foul tongue on someone (salesman/sevice writer)with nothing better to do but to sue ,wether they deserved it or not.

Mark T

P. S. what do ford sites do ?

go over to a ford site, sign up, put your dodge truck specs in your sig. Open up a "My 6. 0 still is at the shop and they can't fix it, but I'm still a die hard Ford guy" thread. Read they're problems and all the "it'll be ok buddy" hand waving that goes on. Write a very nice post in the most constructive way recommending they should just for grins take a test drive in a Dodge Cummins truck. The moderators will ban you in about 2 seconds. - All because you aren't telling them what they want to hear. It's not 100% positive feed back. Sound familiar? That's what the ford sites do. Again, JMO. ;)

If you all absolutly have to have this rating system, make it anonomys. Make a pass/fail or 1-10 rating. Possibly something along the lines of the travel companion that has a list of services the dealer provides. Maybe the dealers themselves would be required to volunteer to be a part of it before they could be included in the list, just as in the members in the travel companion. They could sign a release of liability. They could provide their own accurate information as to the services they provide and what is available locally as stated above as in motels, food, camp grounds, etc. They could also provide a fast lane for TDR members traveling through needing quick service, heck while we're dreaming, how about a discount for TDR members???

I know TDR members are not a Patch on the BMW Motorcycle Owners Club, the both clubs Members Help Books are real Thick not like our Skinny one. If you had a real help attitude you would be listed, even to give advice to a caller of location, price of fuel, recomendation of dealer for needed parts or repair, etc. Dealerships change owners, often keeping same name, managers, mechanics etc, so any honest appraisal today may be different tomorrow, also not forgetting the human element, I may recieve excellent service where as you may not. On a cross country trip when needing help to check cause of display of Check Engine was charged for same at 7000 miles and a 2 hour wait for a 3 minute reading, now that's service? The next dealer's service counter, smiles, nods and shaking of head, had no clue of Check Engine light and no desire to learn, be Happy. Scrum Down

Dealer Locator

Well, have you ever felt like you've just been handed a "hot potato" . . . . Darned if you do; darned if you don't. There is no correct answer here.

This is not a project that we will undertake. As far as I can tell, all of the arguments for, as well as against, have been well stated above.

Circumstances change. Owners/employees change. Customer's perceptions/expectations differ. When the TDR was formed, we made a business decision that we would not accept paid advertising from either Dodge dealerships or Cummins distributors. Why:

- We don't want to waste time intervening in dealer conflicts (he said/she said) (especially those that we create).

- We don't want to get involved in the backbiting of good vs. bad dealers/distributors (my opinion/your opinion). There is absolutely no way to create a common, uniformly applied measurement system.

I have not been eloquent here. But eloquence is not needed. Just an honest, quick answer.

And by the way, on the question of kahoona size, since I'm a female, that really isn't even an issue (chuckle).
