To those of You out there that want the advantage of a superior brake control, I advocate the new Tekonsha Prodigy. My Wife & I have just returned from a 1500 mile trip on the west coast here involving lots of steep grades in route. The former brake control was a Tekonsha Sentinel, which was a very good controller, but since this had been used for five years, I wanted to update. We pull an Alpenlite 26' 5th wheel, but the addition of the new Prodigy has been nothing less than "fantastic". This was well worth the change. The big difference over the Tekonsha Sentinel is the boost feature which enables the truck & trailer to seem as one when brakeing. No jerking at any time. The boost feature is adjusted to the size of ones trailer. This is a very positive feeling over the Sentinel. The last two weeks from California to Oregon on the coastal route has been a real pleasure. This improvement over the former control is quite notable. We have had several other brands of brake controls before this, but this is the best of them to date.

Happy Trailering to You all.

Thanks for your post Chuck. I've been reading the debate between the Prodigy and the Jordan for the last several months. Guess they're both excellent controllers. I'm gonna have a new Prodigy on my rig before I start towing again in the spring. Just waiting for it to go on sale somewhere. I'm tired of the piece of junk I've got now. Boy you learn a lot after you start towing and subscribing to TDR. I love it!

Big Mike,

I think you'll really like the Prodogy. I too have been following the ongoing debate on this site and others. The Jordan guys make some compelling arguments, and I would like to try one of their controlers, but since I've had a Prodogy for well over a year now, and it works sooooo much better than anything else I've had, and it's so easy to use I probably won't be trying anything else anytime soon.

Where did you guys get the Prodigy at? I have a Sentinal that is about 6 yrs. old, think I need a new one. Also, how much $$?

If you are a Campersworld president clubmember and you find the Prodigy cheaper they will take 10% off the lowest price. That is what I did and I ended up paying $98. 00 including shipping.

Buy two - more fun!

Just bought and install two new Prodigy controllers for my CTD and wife's Yukon. Installation was a snap and performance is great. The visibilty and repeatibility of the sensitivity and boost settings for four different trailers interchanging between the two rigs is dead on. The proportional response output on stops and hills is smooooooth. The manual control lever is convenient, easy and also smooth when needed. Try it, you'll like it. I'm a happy camper!

My current controller plugs into the factory harness under the dash. Is the prodegy a plug and play deal or is there a lot of set up involved?

P. S. I'm about fed up with my current controller, It's just junk the way it ramps up the signal, then has a big jerk when it's released.

It simply plugs right in if you buy the 10 dollar harness or yo will have to splice it to the exsisting harness if not. I recommend buying the adapter harness and pluging it in.
