I don't have a pac brake. I really would like to have one though. After this last ride I would like to feel a little more in control going down some of these western mountains. The smart controller is some help but I would like more. I guess BD makes a preety good unit. Do I need anymore electronics or will the smart box handle the lock up OK???

Actually no. The SC, as far as the E Brake is concerned just locks and unlocks the TC. Thats all you need. Plus the brake. I would talk to someone with experience on the installs and knows the ins and outs of the BD brake or PAC Brake. I have the Pac and don't need anything stronger and I believe it is some cheaper.

Personally,

I am going with the BD system. I feel that has more breaking horsepower than the pac. Also it is cheaper from Piers. Don't get me wrong the Pacbrake is a great unit but when your running into a wall moneywise, a couple of hundred bucks is alot. I would also suggest a 4" in line instead of a turbo mount unit. Just in case that HX 40 comes around some day.
