rdodd- I'd move the pyrometer pre turbo. I had it post turbo in my pickup for about a week. Neve hit 900deg, 1" behind the turbo flange. Moved it pre turbo, and hit 1300 in short order, with less boost than when I had hit 875-900. Dont know how hot it would have gotten, had I not chickened out. So, 900 is the MAX I'd go, maybe 850 for long pulls. Get a transmission temp gauge; 20hp penalty for not having one, though it is good you have the others.

. What kind of peak boost are you seeing?
As for your water temp, I think you are a little high at the 4th mark. Granted, the manual may say anywhere in the center is safe, but they also have the OD out temp switch set to something like 270; too darn hot. I have run as high as the 3rd mark, but back out of it when I go over that. When was the last radiator/ cooling system flush? And I'm not talking about the rip off at Jiffy Lube (though rip off and Jiffy Lube is redundant

). I'm talking take the rad out, have it rodded out, cleaned up, engine back flushed, etc, etc. Get all the silicates and other deposites out of there, and basically start over new again. Also check your thermostat. They normally go the opposite way, but I guess could be sticking shut too long.
