Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) temp gauge sensor

where is the temp gauge sensor on a 99 ram.

my gauge reads just above cold I think the sensor is bad

Howdy all, the same thing is happening to meeeeeeeeeeee!!!! :{ :{



I checked to see if the actual gauge went bad by pressing and holding the Tripmeter down while turning on the truck.



It worked.



So, Is there a part that I can replace to make the temperature gauge work??

A sensor of some sort?

On my 01 the water temp sensor is in the front/top of the engine near where the radiator hose goes into the top of the block. Its a small sender that threads into the block and has two wires coming out of it.

Has it always only warmed up just above cold? If not mine did the same thing when the outside temp dropped. It was a broken thermostat, stuck partially open. Just another thought.

Yes, the gauge moves up to just above the 140 mark and hangs around there.
