I have an 01 2500 4x4, auto. I changed my thermostat about 9 months ago due to the fact that mine was stuck open. Wouldn't get warm in winter, had to stick a piece of cardboard in front of the radiator to get it warm. I installed a new t-stat and the temp stays between 220 and 190, is this right? When I get up to around 80mph, the temp rises. I'm not sure what the problem could be. Thanks.

Is the temperature "tick-tocking" up and down? That's a sign of a faulty thermostat...

If it is just getting warm, check the side of the radiator towards the engine for blockage... they tend to whip the oil vapor from the blowby tube onto the radiator and plug it off.

It's a new radiator, it's tick-tocking up and down, slowly, but it is. I just don't like the idea of spending another 30 bucks on a t-stat. Any recommedations on where to get a good one? I bought this one from o'reilly.

I bought one from Cummins for under $25 IIRC... just need your data plate info.

If it is slowly rocking back and forth (under steady cruising), then it is most likely the thermostat.
