I have an 18 tradesman 3500 dually.
The only temp gauge is the digital one in the middle of the dash/
How accurate is this thing? It reads from 185 to 215 towing, in all weather.
Standing in a jam it is 185 to 209. Doesn't seem to overheat, rad fluid is at full.
Any ideas? Or is this normal.
Thanks,
Doc

When my truck was in for service they changed the thermostat even though it wasn't (i didn't notice) any problem. I have the max care and i think since it is always opening and closing, they consider it a high wear item that needs regular changing. I was going to pay the $100 deductible anyway, so i think they just changed it so they could charge the warranty?

This was a couple of years ago.

Todays engines in general run on hotter temperatures thenback in the days, emissions demand that and they are built for it.
The engine oil runs also hotter.
