Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) temp sender resistor?

I have a customer with an 89 d35 with a 12v. I am trying to find some info on the temp sender wire. there is a short jumper sire from the temp sender to the harness with a thick square black rubber thing on it. it had melter through in the middle and I cant tell whtas supposed to be there. any ideas? resistor? thanks.

That is a resistor. It was Mopars feeble attempt at curing the heating problems in the first trucks. It was performed as a recall. They had vertical flow rads in them. In late 91's they changed rad-fan, set-up and cured this problem. All that was achieved by that recall was to sooth the owner's mind. I was not too impressed when they wanted to do it to my 89. so yours has no resistor? his melted and I cut it apart and only has two splices with short wire elads, it melted right where I needed to see it to figure out what it was, lol. I diddnt see a need and told him to try and hook it up directly. so this should be fine?

Correct mine has no resistor because I would not let them install the resistor to fool me about the coolant temp. I eventually changed up to the 92 rad and fan. I also installed a mechanical temp. gauge. John
