Where is the Temp. sender located on my 93. Only thing I have shows it located where the thermostat housing is. Was having a little of the usual thermo. problem on trip to Colo. and thought I would replace the sender too. No-one had one and one part house said it would be $90. 00 if they ordered one. Also have heard temp. sender is either correct or not working at all. True?

Thanks: Bob

Bob,

The sender is on the driver side of the engine, right at the rear of the head and close to the top of the head. Is on the side, not the rear.

Thanks Stan & Bush:

After looking at the location I have decided I really dont want to replace the sender. There is a small 1/4 " tube running directly under it , looks impossible to get a socket on the sender without moving the tube. I sure can't see the $90 I was told it costs. There are 2 senders directly above it in a vertical position on a flat area, Know what they are ?

Thanks again : Bob Fulgham

Bob,

If it's the one's I'm thinking of, the one closest to the firewall is the air temp switch for the KSB solenoid, and the other is the 'charge air temp sensor'. ( it's the one closest to the air inlet on the intake manifold)

Bob.

Thanks Bush:

Got 140k on my 93 now and I like to replace a few things along. Easier to do at my place than on the road. Just got back from a1500 mi. trip pulling a 27 ft. 5'th wheel and only trouble was a transmission fluid drip from the clamp on aux. cooler hose. I had replaced part of the hose when I installed the transmission temp sensor and the hose I replaced was better than the new hose. Also replaced fuel lift pump, water pump and Idler Brg. before leaving. Water pump was easiest pump replacement I have ever done, theyshould make them all with O rings instead of gaskets. Apologise for this being so long, thanks again.
