Where is it???

I had a thermostat stick open the other day so when I got home I ordered a new one from Cummins. I had forgotten the correct numbers or the number of the stat that I had in the truck that worked so well,,so when I removed the old one I found out the new one was not the same as in the truck.

But I thought that it should work correct ,I found out different. The temp will climb to about 150 and then just sit there and not move. When I let it sit and idle the temp will drop back to 140. .

Sounds like the stat that I got also has a problem or the temp sending unit is having a moment. . I will call Cummins today and get the correct stat and if that does not correct the problem I will order the sending unit.

Another reason I am pretty sure that its the stat is because when we were pulling our new 5th wheel home last weekend. . on a 7% grade the guage moved back up to 190. . but dropped off real quick after going over the top. .

For some reason Cummins is still working on getting the stats right. When I talked to parts this morning they said that the latest and greatest stat is 3934373, but I have news for them it doesn't work. My old stat worked great for 1 year and then stuck open or what I thought was open because it took nearly 15 miles of 60 mph for the needle to move off of cold.

The parts guy ask if I had ever thought about an aftermarket guage to make sure the temp is correct... .

The old stat that I took out was a 3928499. .
