The following has happened twice in the last 3 weeks. I was driving a hill both times under moderate throttle and the truck will just lose all power for a split second. A quick check of all guages afterwards reveals nothing, and you're left wondering what's next. Nothing happens to the lighting system, it's just like turning the key off and then turning it back on quickly. Any ideas??

TIA,

Chris

Have been fighting this problem for a guy, did a complete fuel sytem check, all was good, no ECM faults. He also has a Banks system, a call to banks and they advise to unhook the system and see if the problem disappeared, only thing is I haven't heard back from him. I never could reproduce the problem in all my test driving. He said he never new when it would occur, but felt it was usually on a hill and pulling his horse trailer loaded.

I 'm pretty sure he will eventually contact me as our shop does most of his service work.

I had this same problem on my '99. They had me try three different harnesses and a different Ottomind. It went away when I got rid of my Ottomind and went another route.

Sounds like the intermittant stumble. I had the same problem on my 00 until i got the ECM reflash. Do a search for "stumble" and you'll find the tsb #

fj40charles,

It's definitely not the intermitent stumble. Already had that problem about a year & a half ago. Had the reflash done to resolve that problem. The current hesitation is much more noticeable and the truck loses complete power for just a second, and then comes back to life. Could the Edge EZ in combo with the Ottomind be causing this problem?? I've been using this set up for about 8months though, without any problems until recently.

I would remove the EZ and Banks stuff and see if the problem is still there. Be sure to use some fresh dielectric grease (you can buy them at any Autozone. Also called "tune up grease") on the map sensor. Map sensor controls the amount of fueling.

Are you sure you fuel system is up to par? Good fuel pressure and new filter?

fj40charles,

The fuel pressure is about 14 @ the VP44, and I replaced the fuel filter about 3 months ago. I'll disconnect the ottomind first, and if it still happens, the EZ second. That way I can see if it's one or the other. If neither turn out to be the problem, then I'm still @ a loss as to what's causing the problem. Also, I did use dielectric grease at all the connection points. Thanks.

Before you all reflash your systems or spends wads of money trying to figure it out, pull you steering column cover and check your wiring to the ignition switch. In tilt wheel systems it is not uncommon for the wiring to work itself back and forth and then shear off from the back of the connector plug. It continues to rub up against the connector but creates a big problem.

How do I know this. I have done 4 fixes. 1 for engine cut out. 1 for abs, emergency brake lite and air-bags and 2 for lights.

I just had the dealer this last week replace the whole dash harness under warranty.

Good luck.
