I have a stock truck 2004. 5 and just installed the X-Monitor. I just got on the freeway empty and my temps seem high. Pyro 1247... Boost 32. 8... Trans 192. I installed the Pyro pre turbo.

Well I have the 03 with the X an I'm seeing Pyro temps (pre-turbo) normally around upper 500's to low 600's running around 60 to 65 mph. Boost recorded highs around 22. 5 to 23. Trans temps around 145*F to 150*F. My truck is all stock an these readings are without a load, SO/47RE.

Edit: I have always been a little leary on the trans temp, wondering if it is correct or off several degrees. Hauled my TT (around 6000#) here first of August an trans temp never got over 160*F. Owners manual says after driving for 15 miles trans fluid temp should be 180*F being considered normal. So I don't know for sure your trans may be closer to right. Maybe some one else will chime in with some readings.

All of them are a little high ,My normals are pyro 600 to 800, trans 140, boost may hit 32 depends on conditions and load.

2004. 5 = 600 which may acount for the higher boost "stock" and egt's seem about right to me "if you were flogging it", can't comment about the transmission temp as I have the Six Speed ;)

The only one I am worried about is the pyro temp. It cools down as soon as I start cruising about 70 or any speed.

190 is OK but normal would be around 160, I will see 190 rarely and only when pulling. Again conditions affect everything. Those temp may have been when RPM"s were low and boost was under 12 PSI with boost above 20 with 1250 EGT that would seem high if empty.

I can see over 1200 degrees on my 600 with a good hard effort uphill, empty.

I have a friend with one and he sees the same thing on the same hill. Max effort up a 6 or 7% grade by our ski area will show over 1300 on both trucks.

It looks like the combination of 3. 73 and the new 325/600 with the new emissions runs warmer on EGT"s,If you see 190 and above trans temp I hope you plan on servicing every 15K. for longevity purposes.

Oo. Ok the real question to me is what temp on the EGT is unaceptable and when does damage occure? I have an 03-2500 quad/short box 4X4 with an EDGE EZ and AFE intake. I have not yet installed my EGT guage as it is on back order from Geno's. It should be here next week so in the mean time I am taking it easy, but that's hard to do because I sure feel a power increase and she's really running sweet!

I just checked mine stock and try and stay under that temp. 1276 I think was what it would do stock(305/555). I could run it WOT for about half mile with the ez on level 3, about 1/4 mile on 4-5. But one thing never mentioned when this topic is brouhgt up, useage and altitude. I have seen guys pull 1500 for a 1/4 mile or more while towing, not my truck though.

I know it says empty, by usage I am refering more to the freeway you drive. I mean climbing gelico mountain is interstate.
