Well mine made 93K, this morning she started squealing pretty loud. Did a search and found some info on the cast iron pulley that Practical Solutions sells. Looks pretty good, and replacable bearings to boot. Any have any exsperience with the practical solutions upgrade ???

I ordered two of these and my son put one on his 99 truck around 100000. He's probably put 20000+ on it since he changed it out. I was going to keep the other one for the 2000 I had but I have since got me a 03 now. I will have to see if it will work on it.

Excellent, thanks for the feedback guy's looks like I better get on the phone and order one up tomarrow. Hey what about the belt might as well change it while I have it off it been through a lot I think I remeber somebody saying something about a gator belt who makes the best after market belt ? not that had any problems with the stoker. but if I have a chance to upgrade I like to do it.

Thanks again fellers,

Goodyear Gatorback. It eliminates the squeak during shutdown. I think you can get one at Autoxone for around $30. I do not have the PN handy, but if nobody chimes in with it I can dig it up this afternoon.

Replacement pulley

Cummins won't sell just the pulley, have to buy the whole tensioner, I think it is $108. 00, I bought a replacement pulley for $22. 00 at Advance Auto Parts. bg

Goodyear Gatorback belt, # 4080810 or 8PK2055 one is the Napa number, don't remember which. Using either of these numbers at some auto parts will not get you a Gatorback, it will cross over to something different. Make sure you specify Gatorback especially if they have to order it. The Gatorback will be the last belt you need to buy, lifetime warranty. Beware of the belt "map" on the radiator support, some are wrong, make sure it jives before you remove the belt.

Excellent, I don't have an Auto Zone close, but I do have a NAPA. I will go over and see if they can work with those numbers to come up with the gatorback.

Thanks again guy's

gatorback

I just put the one on that GEno's sells now, its of a different design than the last one, it doesnt chirp anymore at shutdown, is it a gatorback? The grooves go both ways now instead of just longitudinally, they have sort of a crosshatching effect. I suspect that that has more to do with eliminating the shutdown chirp than the idler pully. .

I used to be annoyed by the chirp, now that I dont have it, I miss it!

The part number for the one on Geno's is 5080810 what gives this only one number diference then the one Illflem mentions above it must be the Gatorback !!!!

The difference between a 4 and 5 is the the type and material a belt is made of, you need a chart for this number only. Both numbers work but are a different material.

Part Number Gives You The Size Of A Belt

Example: 4 08 081 0

1st digit (4) represents a K section Poly V-belt.

2nd and 3rd digit gives the number of ribs.

4th, 5th, and 6th digit are the length in inches.

7th digit is tenth of an inch.

Part number 4060495 would be a K section Poly-V belt, eight ribs wide, with a length of 81 and 0/10 inches

Right you are, I just got my Good Year Gator Back Belt, I tried the local NAPA and they said they don't carry them, and wouldn't be able to order either. So I stopped at Smothers in Santa Rosa they had it in stock and the number is 4080810 so yes I got the K section poly V belt, it was $42. 54 tax included. So what would the 5 stand for in the one that Geno's sells ?
