Hola amigos -

This Wednesday night, starting at about 4pm, is a test and tune drag session at Bandimere Raceway, Denver. I'm going along with a few others from other forums, and we're going to have a fun night at the track with the hammer down . I've never raced the ole beastie and I want to get some timeslips before the conversion. A bit short-notice, but anyone in Rocky Mountain 1st gen land up for it? Racing ends around 8:30pm, and I'm thinkin' about dinner afterwards somewhere in town. I also think the sbentz CTD rail dragster may be there - I think it runs 8's at around 148 mph baby!

See you there,

- Sam

Was out of town, and now have the car scattered across the shop, changing more things than I care to admit...

Keep trying the same things, and get same results, right?

The numbers are in - not too bad :)

Well, I don't have anything to compare against the timeslips, but the old girl ran a 17. 4 second quarter mile at 79. 46 mph... . and on the trip up to the track and back it clicked over 240,000 miles.

I think I suprised a couple folks, including the tree worker as the rig belched out a nice death cloud as I stalled the converter to build up the boost (heh heh heh). Didn't see any other TDR's up there tho, bummer - was hoping to bench race a bit. But there's always next time.

So, good power, and a hi-mile transmission with a TCI converter, 3. 54's, at 7000' altitude, and it runs 17's. I dunno, but I guess that's not too shabby?? What are some of y'all running?

At least now I have some 'before' nembers to compare to after the conversion and upgrades.

Good work. The track boys are getting used to the black smoke. They really like the biodiesel smoke, makes them think that they are at a chinese restraunt.

Keep tuning, go fast. Need help, drop me a note.

Sure will. My first pass was strange - the timeslip was all jacked up - saying I ran a 12. 7... . soooo, I asked the dude (punching the holes) "WTF" and they radioed to the slip shack after my second pass (that said I ran an 11. 7... ) to tell me that the smoke during the prestage was screwing up the computer..... (how the hell am I supposed to alter that) and so I tried the inside lane (after apologizing in advance to the dude punching holes in the tickets for smoking out the tree workers... . he said don't worry about it... so I didn't :) ). Weird, so I had two runs in the right lane with garbage numbers, and two runs in the inside lane with good numbers. So, now I have sort of a baseline for after the conversion is done and all of the go-fast-while-not-breaking-parts goodies get installed.

wish I had known

I ran at Truck Fest two weeks ago and I did a 16. 7 @ 85 but I missed a gear AND backed out of it the last 150 feet or so hoping not to break out my 16. 8 dial in. I used 2wd and had a 2. 88 0-60 ft time. I want to try some PODs next and 4wd and see what happens.

sbentz,

Good to see ya in here... . my brother, Randy, met you at the mile high nationals... he was wearing the PDR shirt that got your attention and he had a really great time chatting with you ... couldn't stop talking about it..... :D:D:D

pastor bob..... :D

Sounds good. Based on how yours is running it sounds like mine is about where it should be. I really wish now that I had run it before the mods.

I see yer in Cheytown - I was stationed there from 91-95. You know any of the guys in the Wyoming Mighty Mopar car club?
