Fellow Rammers:
I stopped by my favorite 5-Star to check out all of the discounts on an 06 dually. I found a silver sport loaded w/ everything except sunroof (and auto)w/ sticker of $49,891 and w/ all discounts was $37,504. So I drove the beast.
I wasn't particulary impressed w/ the performance: acceleration wasn't what I thought it would be, seemed to have a vibration at 65+ MPH, and when we went to park it, I had to back up a slope and it seemed the transmission was slipping. Seemed like really had to goose it to get it to finally back up.
As you can see below, we have an 03 with a 48RE (and with way less computing power in the PCM) and the transmission in it is much more responsive.
So for now, I'm gonna keep my 02 3500: I just can't see that 06 backing my 17K lb 5th wheel up a hill like I can right now. We'll see what happens with the 6. 7L Cummins and with the Aisen 6-speed auto.
