Thought I would let everyone know that I had a chance to drive a single cab 3500 4x2 dually this past Saturday with the new 6. 7 and G56 6 speed manual transmission; if you see in my signature below - I have a '04 NV5600 6 speed and good 'ol 5. 9 305 HP - Stock.

Let me just come right out and say it - I like my clutch and transmission wayyy better then the G56 setup. The pedal did not have a smooth motion to it at all and 1st to 2nd gear is really weird since reverse is all the way to the left and down. I think the thing that threw me off the most is the fact the stick is bent more on the G56 then the stick on my nv5600.

I also drove a 6. 7 with the 6 speed auto (68 RFE dodge in house transmission) and that was a lot better then any diesel with a 4 speed auto I have ever driven.

Also I drove these trucks empty on fairly warm days - but I could tell the exhaust brake built into the 6. 7 turbo is really cool! - I wonder if they could be retro-fitted to a 5. 9? (Probably not because of all the electronics?)

after reading the following statement - I think weird clutch pedal I was feeling the second clutch grabbing the flywheel / disc. As compared to the clutch pedal in my truck that uses NV5600 and single disc clutch.

jnelson,

The G56 uses a DMF that can go out of balance with normal service.

Test, select neutral, set parking brake, increase engine RPM, if truck starts vibrating without the rest of the driveline involved, DMF is a good suspect. The secondary flywheel is piloted on the primary with a bushing that is subject to wear, when it gets loose, the entire secondary with clutch assy is now orbiting rather than concentric on the crank. If this does not corfirm the vibration, look elsewhere. A fellow TDR member sent us a failed DMF, the secondary F/W actually moves (up/down) on the primary assy due to the bushing wear.

We will have our solid conversion later this summer.

Maybe the clutch felt a little strange because it's still brand new and needs a little breaking in. My NV5600 and clutch took a little getting use to at first.

I also test drove a 6. 7L Auto... Felt really good and I am a stick man... . Did it just for fun while my truck was being serviced. I have a 06 with the G-56 and love the shift. I will admit that it feels MUCH different now ( 11,000 miles) than it did when i test drove it. Was very notchy at first... As soon as I switched out the mopar fluid to AMSOIL ATF+4 at about 900 miles... it has been smooth as glass ever since! :-laf
