Wow. Hands down 110% better than my 04.5.

Everything from HP all the way to the back seat was a major improvement.

Can't wait until the 2015's come out so I can get a good deal on a 2014 model.

:-laf:-laf:-laf......You know, that's exactly what I did and said about a month ago.........You are done, you just don't know it yet.:-laf

I drove a 3500 DRW with an Aisin but my plans are for a 3500 SRW with Aisin.

Even though a 2014 3500 SRW is well within legal limits of our current 5th wheel, were trying to sell it with plans to downsize. I really like the dually for towing (see my signature) but for my daily needs, the DRW is getting in the way.

I've been helping out a lot with my neighboring cattle ranches here in the foothills of central Ca lately so I've just about had it with trying to pull rocks out between the rear tires and I've been extremely lucky that I haven't torn off a dual fender yet; I've been really close.

Our current 5th wheel weighs about 13,600 and the trailer we'll replace it with weighs about 9500. Not a huge difference but it settles my mind about my decision to go back to an SRW pickup. Especially since we only use it roughly 4 times a year.

My heart says to buy a DRW but my mind and check book says to go SRW. This has been a tuff decision.

Keep in mind there's only a $1200 MSRP difference between a DRW and SRW truck... less when you negotiate the price down. Not only that, but with the DRW you get your pick of axle ratios whereas the SRW is only available in 3.42:1.

I hear ya brother. Once I switched my 04.5 into a DRW, I swore I'd never go back but it's hard to justify when I only need the duals a few times a year.

I wish I had a Go Go Gadget DRW button on the dash.

The new SRW 3500s do have a lot more capability than they used to. They have a 7000 lb. axle and tires are rated 3640 lb. each. The trucks are rated to tow 17,000 lb. with the 3.42 gears. Especially if you downsize, I believe you will be completely satisfied with the SRW.

This is why I'm considering the SRW over the DRW. Legally, I'm good with a 2014, ethically, I need a DRW.

I drove a 2014 DRW this afternoon. OMG, these trucks are awesome!

I agree completely.

Had a 2500 2004.5 myself.

The difference is a true quantum leap.

I was hooked and purchased the 2014 2500 Ram Cummins and I have NEVER been disappointed.

Good hunting.

My thought is buy a SRW and if you run out of rear axle capacity, then install Rickson 19.5 rims and tires. You then can handle over 9k on the rear axle. Just wish they let you get 3:73 gears. Dealers like Dave Smith Motors would most likely cut you a deal on a gear swap. Chris

Having used the 3.42s, gotten over 20 mpg at 75 mph, and towed through the mountains with 8000 lb, you could not get me to trade to 3.73s. The power band of the new 6.7s works very well with 3.42s. If Chrysler rates the 3500 to tow 17,000, you can believe it, although I am more comfortable with using any rating, load or towing, at about 2/3 to 3/4 of factory since a lot of my use it at higher altitudes in mountains, etc.
