Hey guys, for those of you who have looked at my truck or heard of the power problems I've been having, I finally got around to installing my fuel pressure gauge. I have 6 psi @ idle and 2. 5 psi @ WOT. What do you all think?

That's not too bad. A little low for WOT, I think. This was after the filter right? Did you say you put a new LP on it? I was wondering the other day, could this have the in tank pump? Put in before they got PO'd and put in the 1G engine? If so, that would restrict fuel.

You said it was better before the IP was rebuilt, (I keep thinking out loud here, ;) ) That makes me think they did something to the pump.

Oh, just sell the darn thing and buy a good bodied 1st gen when you get out of school! Just make sure you got something to drive to SOP-V!:-laf

I used a Geno's banjo bolt to tap into the fuel system. Brand new lift pump(Mechanical diaphram type). The top of the tank has 4 wires running into it. Is that all for the sending unit or could there be an in tank fuel pump running (or not) in the tank. Yes the IP was rebuilt. Immediately after I reinstalled the new IP I went from an 85 mph quarter mile to a 70 mph quarter. (Verified) on a dyno. That would a heck of a coincidence if I got a restriction in the fuel tank pickup or lines the same day I reinstalled the IP.

I'm looking at diesel cars. Maybe a VW or an Mercedes. I used to have a mecedes 300sd. I liked the car but, I think all 300's have automatics and it got an average of 27 mpg. Not to bad for a 3800 pound car, but I would like something that gets at least an average of 35mpg. :cool:

You put the tapped banjo in where the bleeder was, right?

VW TDI! :D Problem is, they want big bucks for them! Michigan Don has one, if he sold the Travco, he was going to drive that to SOP IV. I'd like to have one, but most cars here are rust buckets! :{

The wife runs a 99. 5 Jetta TDI. Decent car, handles well, plenty of power and it's stock. Easily 45 mpg... that's me driving on a trip with the hammer down and the car loaded. Would get better mileage with someone driving sanely.

6psi at idle is borderline at best. I have 7 at idle; and can get down to nothing, but I dont have a stock pump.

WHat is your FP at cruise? Mine hovers around 5psi at 70-75mph. I need to upgrade mine, I know.....

My injection pump isn't stock either. :-laf 4-5 psi cruising @ 60 mph.
