i've not played with the sensor on my dodge so i am not positive what signal it sends, but it's most likely a AC pulse generator i test these types of sensors all of the time, it should have 2 or 3 wires, with 3 wires one is a shield and two are signal, hook up with a multimeter set to AC 5 volts or less if you can adjust the scale, get the wheels safely off the ground and spin the driveshaft (you could let it idle in gear if you want) you should get voltage which goes up the faster it spins, shouldn't be too hard to get a volt AC with a good hard spin. a pulse generator is the cheapest and most common type of speed pick up around, hall effect and magnetic switch type are less common, the resistance will probably be under 1k ohms, it shouldn't be something like 10k, a pulse generator is really just a coil of wire around a core
heres a example of a pulse generator i scratch built for my hotrod bmw (built as a cam sensor for a stand alone fuel injection system) that i am planning to supercharge #ad
