Do you want to stay with OEM fluid or are you interested in NON OEM synthetic alternatives?

I read that Autozone is selling Pennzoil Synchromesh, it is the same as MTX.

There are other options but not if you are wanting to stay OEM.

Texaco was purchased by Chevron and Exxon I believe. Might have the Exxon wrong. MTX1874 is made by ChevronTexaco and cannot be purchased by us. It is available at your Dodge Dealer only. I work for a Chevron Distributor and cannot purchase this product. I guess about two years ago there was some floating around that a few members were able to buy in pails. That was during the buy out and consolidation. I would be suprised if any were available now.

You have two choices. Buy at the dealer, or use something else. Personally, I plan on using the dealer lube until I am out of warranty, and then use something else.

Thank you very much for the help I have a pale on the way. I am in the process of the 5th gear nut fix. At least the fluid was ready for a change. I should feel lucky mine lasted 215,000 before it gave up.

Well, I guess al the materials that I recieve from my employer are mismarked ChevronTexaco.

Also, BFG is owned by Michelin. I believe that they are based in that European Country that changes governments like I change socks. You know, the one that starts with the letter "F" and has yet to log a military victory in modern times.

There is a GM version

Same stuff, different number. Mark got some for me at employee price back when I needed it.

I have the number out in the shed. I'm too tired to go look right now.

Not impressed with it-- am thinking of adding some snake oil to the mix.

Here in part is the letter I received with my Texaco statment which included the Shell Credit Cards.

"Dear Texaco Cardholder,

As you know, many of your local Texaco stations are changing to Shell. Enclosed are your new Shell Credit Card(s) to replace your existing Texaco Credit Card(s). ... "

The reason I also stated BP, is that BP accepts (accepted) my Texaco card, so I could be wrong there. As far as Shell, it may be regional, but I defiantly received the above letter and Shell Credit Cards just the other day from Texaco.

Now as for how owns Shell/Cheveron I personally think they are both owned by Wally World, but that is just my humble opinion on the subject!

Thanks, John. In these times it is very hard to keep up with giant mergers. Not to mention how complicated they can become. I just wish that I were able to buy MTX1874. Once my rig is out of warranty I will try other things, but at this point I just don't want to have problems getting the transmission replaced if anything happens during it.

BFG/MICHELIN?

I thought F***ed up Firestone bought BFG, eh? Geezsus, gotta keep a darn scorecard to keep up with this stuff. Ron:eek:
