Just wondering what the average insurance prices in Texas are on a Ram 3500 Quad Cab 4wd??? Mine is $547 every six months. I thought that was high..... :{

I forgot to mention that I have a perfect driving record... . No Tickets, No Accidents, and No Claims other than a windshield about 8 years ago.

My brother lives in texas. His ins. on his car is $200 a month. He was told it was because of all of the illegal mexican imigration, said most don't have ins. coverage.

I almost choked when I was transfered down here to the Corpus Christi area and went in to get my vehicle insurance. It was double what it was in OK. I asked the agent why so high and she said "if you have a wreck and even if it isn't your fault, you'll get sued!!!". Gotta bunch of "fine" attorneys down here. Also 1 out of 2 cars here don't have insurance. Anyway, I could go on but enuff venting!! Allstate full coverage for 97 is $426/6 mo. and the 99 is $420/6 mo. No violations, etc.

Welcome to TEXAS... ..... Now go home :D :D . Just kidding guys. The Insurance industry fooled Texans about 15 years ago with the MANDATORY liability law. It sounded good on paper, must have insurance to inspect, license, all vehicles. How could anyone possibly get around this???????? The ins. companies introduced 1 month policies for non commercial vehicles. Now when you need inspection and license, go to the local ins. seller and viola instant insurance for 30 days. You are within the letter of the law... ... ... but not the spirit. Studies say that as many as 3 of 5 drivers in metro areas of Texas do not have liability insurance.

I hate to blame it on the illegals, but they definitely are a large part of the picture.

When I was working in Ohio, the Highway Patrol would pull surprise insurance and license checks on the main highways. If your insurance wasn't current they pulled your plates and towed your car. Also, the insurance companies had a hotline to vehicle registration and when the insurance lapsed they would come for your plates. Oughta work down here wouldn't ya think. Course the illegals would scream bloody murder!!!!

being a former texan myself I will tell you that Insurance is much higher in texas than here in utah. That includes homeowners also. I would say auto insurance in texas for the same vehicle is close to 50% higher than here in utah. But I would much rather pay higher insurance in texas than having everything else cost so much more like it does here. Utah and all of the west is being infiltrated my commie loveing tree huggers leaving california, along with them comes more taxes. The cheapest place I have ever seen to live is central texas.

Rural Nebraska, 3500 '03 4x4 Farm Bureau, $580 / 6 months plus $47 annual membership for full coverage, $250 deductible. My '01 2500 4x4 = $576. Omaha & Lincoln Nebraska prices are more, due to more risk. Prices reflect one speeding ticket. Once the ticket expires, it should drop about $100 / 6 months. However, with the losses the insurance companies have suffered in the last couple of years, insurance is higher in many areas. In some parts of Florida and from what I've heard, and TX, home insurance is nearly impossible to obtain. We all pay a lot extra for the illegals everywhere, like here in Nebraska. Bill O'Reilly is right, we need the military to guard our borders against 'em. Bust those who willfully hire 'em. My 2 cents.

Connecticut is similiar to Ohio, insurance company notifies DMV and they come and get your plates. You have to pay big time to get them back. It's a good law in that it only gets those that don't or won't pay their way.

Come up to Wisconsin! We are one of the lowest rated states for insurance cost. Clean record, married, home insurance package; I pay $509 annually for truck. $500,000 liability and $250 ded comp and $500 ded coll. Only thing is you have to put up with the weather and road salt. Lots of it:(

Try Tempe AZ. $619. 00/6 months with State Farm for a 99, clean record no tickets no accidents. The only thing that comes close to making it worth it is that I do not need to save money for replacing the rusted fenders you snow guy's have. We do have a demolition derby daily around here though, Tbones, rollovers etc. I guess that the insurance companies can justify their prices by the way Arizonans drive.

I'm paying right at $900 for 6 months coverage on my '03 one ton in Harris County, one of the highest insurance rate counties in the USofA. Both of my adult daughters were in accidents within a six month period, hit by uninsured motorists. Neither accident was their fault. But since Allstate had to pay the bill, and since both are on my insurance (both are college students, so I'm still carrying them) Allstate moved me to a county mutual policy because of "incident rate". My complaints to the State Board of Insurance were futile. They've been lackeys of the insurance companies for years. The rate tripled what I had been paying. I had to scurry and find another carrier, no small task in this state. And I'm getting multi-car discounts and the over 21 rate for the kids! The cost of all insurance in Texas was a big issue in the recent statewide political races, but that's pretty much the problem-politics! Now I'm sorry I read this thread, 'cause I'm hacked all over again.

Reckon the politicians will live up to the promises or was it just more chin music???? I have to vote with O'Reilly, slam the borders shut, round up the ones that are here illegally and ship 'em south and get our affairs in order!!!!!!! Oughta be pretty easy right now since they are all headed back to Mexico for the holidays!!!!!

High ins. rates eh? Dare I say it?

Everything is bigger in Texas!;)

(you can thank all those tourism adds you folks run up here for that one!):D

I was told by an attorney that an auto accident lawsuit will go for the max on your ins policy and its cheaper for you to get smaller coverage amounts and thats what they will sue for so save your money. Apparently attorneys see no profit in sueing for money that isnt there.

Any attorneys out there care to comment please?

That is not true. I know a person who was sued for over the amount on his policy. His estate had to even sell land to cover what his policy didn't. You need the highest limit you can afford. It's not a good feeling when you get a letter from your insurance company advising you to get your own attorney because your limits may be exhausted.

I pay $780 a year for my 2002, that is the highest coverage. SW Missouri is Gods country, 98% WASP's and low taxes and low cost of living and it is beautiful country. The largest city in SW Missouri is around 100,000 pop. All of you CTD owners are invited to move here. :D

Weather is great if you like all 4 seasons.

I wonder if, in this day and age, an umbrella policy might be in order. I think they are fairly reasonable for the amount of coverage afforded. Can anyone enlighten us on these policies??

An umbrella policy is an additional layer of usually $1 mil over your vehicles and home property. It applies only to bodily injury and property damage. Your base policies need to be certain limits to qualify. On average in Wisconsin, two vehicles and a home, an umbrella would cost $150 annually. The more toys you have the more umbrella will cost. ;)
