Time to bash OHIO.

Has any of you fellow Texans heard of a law passing here in Texas to abolish the front license plate, and only have the rear plate displayed like some other states do.

Yesterday I was helping my daughter purchase a new car and the salesman said he would call her when her new plate came in, and he said by the way it will only be one plate for the rear that Texas just passed a new law to loose the front plate. First I've heard of it myself.

I've heard the law was changed, but I could never find confimation of the fact.

Should have taken effect Sept 1st if that is the case.

On edit--

Just checked a few Texas gov sites. It is still written in the Texas Trans Code that two license plates must be displayed. Also, the House Bill and Senate Bill that would have changed the law was not shown on the list of bills the governor signed after the 79th Texas Legislative Session.

I'd make sure I got two plates unless they can show you otherwise.

Thanks for the info, what little bit of searching I did on the internet I could not find where it had passed.

The salesman pointed out there was not really a location on the front of the vehicle that we bought to install a front plate. He was giving this as one of the reasons people was complaining about the front plate among some other things.

I will be sure and tell my daughter to ask for comfimation of the law when she returns to the dealership for them to install the plates.

Thanks

Still 2 plates AFAIK. Sounds like the salesman is too cheap or lazy to come up with a front license plate bracket.

If you notice between the House and Senate bills, the article(Article 9) that mentioned the license plate was changed considerably before it went to the Senate. Even then, it's stalled in the Senate Finance Commitee. Doesn't even mention license plates anymore, but instead was replaced with mentoring that promotes responsible fatherhood and healthy marriages. Stange how lawmakers work.

Means the law that requires two license plates will remain as is. No change. make sure she gets the second plate.
