Part of why they sealed NYC and all area roads and bridges

Black Powder Shooters

Spent many a week and two week stays in Texas. Driven a lot of it from the boarder to the central part over the last 15 years. Love it , love the people. Always looked forward to it. Love the steaks... .

Then I found out that my Grandfarter (mothers's Dad), came from a family of Texan Ranchers north of San Antonio (if I remember right, maybe it was Austin) somewhere.

Now I know why it feels like a home some how.

Been to the real Alamo, it was amazing. Been to the movie set... down around Brackettsville(sp?) somewhere... between Del-Rio and there somewhere. .

Del-Rio has one of the best steak houses that I've ever been too... Cripple Creek... havent been there in about 6 years, miss it.

One town has a sign...

"Welcome to "(cant remember the name of the town)", God's country. So please don't drive like 4ell through it"

... something like that...

BK,

There is a small town just a few miles East of MIdland, TX that has a huge billboard on either side of town that proudly proclaims, "Stanton, TX. Home to 3000 friendly people, and a few old soreheads!"

Another really cool sign is on the side of the truckstop in Van Horn on I-20. It advertises "DIESEL Fried Chicken". I wonder how that chicken tastes? :D or if the diesel is fit to burn in our trucks?

rat,

Funny you mention the few old soreheads, that's one of my landmarks on my bi-annual trip to AZ. Always thought that was funny about the few. Don't recall the diesel fried chicken though, course coming from Dallas I'm near brain dead by the time I get to Van Horn. You really don't realize just how big Texas is until you drive out west. I'll never forget the time we were coming back home from a Florida vacation coming back into Texas on I-10 seeing the sign "few" miles to Beaumont crapload of miles to El Paso. I always thought I'd hate to be the guy headed to EP from there.

Remember the Alamo & Coleto Creek
