Illflem, our winters can be bad. I live in east Texas just south of Longview. Last winter we had a BAD ice storm and were pretty much shut down. It seemed like we had no electricity for ever. I was moving my generator between 3 houses every day to keep the refrigerators and freezers from thawing out. Tree limbs were broken every where and a bunch of barns and buildings collapsed from the weight of the ice. I am still cleaning up the mess. I have some trees that have their tops touching the ground today and will never straighten up. There are bunches of limbs on the ground that will rot before we get them cleaned up. And as far as our summers go,,,,they are HOT. Summer before last the thermometer inside my shop read 104 degrees. It is a new insulated metal building with three rollup doors and they were all open. An old saying around here is that if you don't like this weather, stay around a while, it will definately change for you.

Once you get used to the humidity if you do get used to it the temp isen't the killer. It is the heat index because of the humidity. It seemed hotter here on the coast to me than it did in Phoenix summer before last while on vacation.

Hey John, I was right.

Winter was on a Thursday this year. I remember because I had a bit of frost on my windshield that day. :D :D

Actually, I don't think we have an actual "Winter season", it more along the lines of "Not Summer" season.

Don't worry it is suppose to get cold again the first of next week. I was able to get out for a couple of hours after work yesterday and catch 30 white bass on Travis. I bet the water on Austin was COLD!

I was working in Fort Stockton last week. Highs were close to 90. Kind of made me break a little sweat, with the Nomex on. :{ Really fun wearing FRCs in Webb county around August (~110 deg. F ambient).

I was working in Oman a couple of years ago. It was 134 degrees F. ambient. The guys there said that was the cool part of the year, in August they said that ambient temps ran between 155 and 160. They were South of Saudi, so the wind blew moisture in off of the Arabian Sea. Not only hot, but humid too. Closest I've been to he##. I was glad to leave that place.
