I am sure you (Piers) are tired of saying the same old thing over and over. For you Govn Spring pros this will be old news but for the few and new that end up a idle bounce/rebound after installing GSK ... the springs are definetly to tight. Not just one click tight but probably 2 or three clicks.
I have had a bounce for a couple years now and each winter when temps go zero, it really sucks. Even with idle up around 900 the bounce is so severe with a cold engine that it dies on each shift (5speed).
I got so desperate that I put the stock springs back in. Kind of neat to drive with pretty good fueling but a very short RPM range. EGTs sure fell back in check again.
Talked to several in the know but just did not like the response (click tighter, click looser... ) I had tried all of that years back. Final it was suggested I ask Piers directly and he quickly responded the springs are to tight. He said to start at . 040 stud protrusion. He mention you do not want the springs to control the idle or even be close. You want to control with the idle adjustment.
Pulled the stock springs... GSKs back in (really good at this now), set at . 040 which is very very loose and on restart and an adjust up of the idle to the 900 I like to run the idle is smooth as glass. Sometimes even the simple fixes are most rewarding.
I hope this helps someone else out so you don't put up with it as long as I did.
