RMTDR Dyno Day

For those that missed it, there was a bunch of wrenching going on at Grandpappy's place today.

After breakfast, where we had pancakes about the size of a clutch plate, we caravaned to his place where there was plenty of room to park and a heck of a nice covered concrete pad to tear some trucks apart.

I'm afraid I don't remember who owned the dually getting the injectors , EZ, gauges and exhaust but he was a heck of a happy fella after taking his totaly different truck for a ride. It might have looked the same but it sure did run different.

I finally got my 3K governor spring kit and my SouthBend ConOFE.

Okie, your gonna like the way that clutch drives. The pedal pressure is nice and soft. Much softer than the stock clutch. Not being able to really test it is gonna kill me, two weeks huh... .

Big John got his new stainless 4" exhaust, and exhaust brake installed as well. It sounded great just sitting there idleing.

If there was anything else done, I don't know about it. Most of my time was spent getting intimate with the inner workings of the ol P pump and that thing behind the engine... ... oh yeah, the transmission.

We also Bar-B-Qed some yard bird(chicken for you Northerners), sausage, and hamburgers. There might have been a beer or two drank as well.

Just wanted to give a big ol thanks to Grandpappy for the great place to work and the use of his air tools and all the other stuff.

Mike, Dave and Andrew, thanks for the help with that transmission. We'll have to get together and have lunch,... ... on me.

It was good to see everyone, and I hope we can do it again.

BTW, Mac took a bunch of pictures, I should have them on the site soon.

Sounds like you guys had some fun.

I wish I lived a bit closer. Curtis, you got some clutch... . now its time for some more HP!!

Don~

Just wanted to say "Ditto" to what Curtis said. I wanted to thank Okie for the help on the exhaust and Grandpappy for the hospitality. Hope to do it again sometime.

I guess I will need to update my signature now. I must confess to the ownership of a 24 valve. This is not an easy thing to do for me. My 12 valve trucks have served me well for many years.

Big John

oh what a day/night.....

Had a great time today yall! Hope we can do it again sometime.

BIG thanks to Grandpappy for the high idle idea that didn't work out.

HUGE thanks to Mike for the turbo that came after we left. I will have a full report on the difference inthe HY v/s HX turbos in a couple of days/weeks.

Got some of the pics posted here

Anderw

P. S. Curtis, feel free to cut and paste onto the lstdr page.

We'll do it again!

Glad everyone that came got all their B. O. M. Bing done. I even got my AIT sensor changed out thanks to Ray Davis. We found out that my 01 has a bracket in the way that the earlier 24v don't have so it took the two of us to install a little sensor! We got two exhaust systems changed out, a SB clutch installed, a set of DD2 injectors and a DD TTPM box installed, drilling & tapping done for gauges(gauges on BO) two AIT sensors changed out and several lift pumps checked for press. A good day of B. O. M. B. ing.

BTW: TDK... The high idle idea didn't work because you have a handicapped (auto) transmission with too many cables and whatnot in the way. We will do this again sometime if there is enough intrest... ... ... ..... Howard

Oh yes, We installed a EGT gauge I had on the members truck that got the DD 2's ,TTPM box and Jardine exhaust since his gauges are on BO. Didn't want him flying blind and he says it will fly now... . H

That's Cool !!

You Texans may be Loud and Overbearing, but you sure know how to have a good time. Wish I had been there. :D :D :D

Good to see you guys having such a grand time - How about bringing that "yardbird" cooker up here for a GLTDR event?

From the looks of that picture of Andrew. . I'd say he needs to be slapped - LMAO

Doc

Green-Green-Green !!

What really blows my mind, other than what a good time you guys had, was how GREEN everything is out there. So. Cal. is already golden and dry. We had a pitiful rainy reason and can look forward to some spectacular brush fires.

Hey Andrew, I see you live in the co-ed dorms over by the football field... ..... :D ... ... ... "Time of your life, hey kid"... ... ...

Enjoy it while you can.

P. S. Hope to make the next BOMB party.

Shrimpy

Tex-That's Green !1

Our hay crop is 10" high. We will just turn the cattle loose on it when it's completley dry. Green is Good. ;) ;) ;)

Andrew, David and myself left the party and went to our house and had a late Bombing party on Andrew's truck. We put a hx35 (off a spare engine I have) in place of his hy35 too see the difference it would make. How about it Andrew did the hard work pay off, how was the ride home??

David and I just got finished putting in a Sachs clutch in the new 94' 2500 I bought last week, now if Piers would send me the 370 injectors we can start the HP Bombing.
