Thanks to CA's energy shortage my county's locally owned power company (PUD) is making gobs of money selling power to CA. So much in fact that they bought thirty-five 1500 hp Cat generators to sell more power to CA, they turn them off if the price isn't right. When all are running they burn 71,000 gallons of diesel a day, 8 tanker trucks 7 days a week. News that is out today is that to mitigate the air pollution from the generators the PUD is going into the apple orchard removal business, they will be pulling the trees and grinding them up instead of burning, all at no charge to the grower. They are also buying property for three new parks and cutting the fee for a new meter hookup to a quarter of the old price. It didn't need to happen here, if CA had had a little foresight they wouldn't be in the bind they're in, they should have been the ones to buy the 35 generators.

Why sell power to em? They deserve to sit in the dark. There mess there problem. I can't believe they have not yet banned air conditioners yet. Oops Maybe this will get the ball rollin.
Gee wonder how those electric cars are doing in that state now. Ya like that ever helped keeping our air clean. Maybe they'll have to install pedals for backup power. It worked for Fred Flintstone.

Believe me, the same thing is going on in NJ,NY, MD, Mass, so on.
Everyday it is a constant battle between Good and Evil.

Yup. Same thing is threatened for here this summer. The past few summers there was some blackouts, you think they would have gotten the hint that something was going wrong. #ad

IMO NJ is at least as socialist as P. R. Cal. Probibally more so in some ways.

I just read about how the chinese pres is calling our Prez dumb, confused, & on & on.

If our people had any balls we would be backing our prez (like him or not) just to show we have some pride & self respect. So there I was about three weeks ago giving the 'ol RAM a body rub out in the front yard for all to see and suddenly WHAM, CRUNCH, SCREEEECH!!!! I new that was a big one probably down at the stop light at the bottom of the hill. I hi-tail it down there and sure enough two cars got into it real good. I'm looking at the marks and positions of the cars trying to piece together how the heck it may of happend when it dawns on me, the stop light wasn't working. If was off, dark, not flashing. Then it really started to sink in and when I returned to my appartment I confirmed it. Rolling black out. Now how in GODs Name can a state get a way with random emergencys!?! I'm born and raised in CA but have lived all over this country including both coasts (after 20 years of military) and all I can say is I know where I'M NOT RETIRING!!!! This place is simply mad. It scares me to ponder what this state is capable of. I like to shoot, ride dirt bikes, and smoke cigars (on occasion, in that order). Pretty much tatoos me a felon if I stay...

The left loves government power... This much we know. And why? It's easy. It requires no discipline, offers an easy solution to every problem - let someone else deal with it, suffer the consequences, or pay for it.

That's an easy sell to a population that has yet to directly and visibly suffer the consequences of what's going on. It's like a drug addict who's still got his half-million a year brokerage job. There's not really any problem yet, right? So he's got problems like not sleeping, eating, or being able to function fully normal... Doesn't matter, because there's a million pushers out there offering him more of the same - and it's an easy sell.

So, too... Democrats have been offering government solutions to every problem for 7 decades plus, and although not a single problem has been "solved" by out daily government "fix", the majority doesn't care - because there hasn't been a big and visible hurt yet. Eventually, though, we'll reach the point where the economic engine simply can't push the burden of government anymore and we slide downhill. And, like the drug addict won't blame drugs for his problems, you will NEVER see a Democrat blame too much government...

Leadership - that quality that inspires people - is what is required to snap the population out of it's fog and get some perspective on our national future, but right now there isn't much. Where are the men of steel will and confident purpose who can stare down the barrage of venom from the left and talk right straight at the people, convincing them of the truth? I haven't seen one in a long time, and I don't see anyone making a name for himself in the wings, either.

The normal cycle is for a nation to slowly slide downhill at first, and then accelerate rapidly as the leaders do nothing and blame each other (getting votes, it's called), until suddenly some madman shows up and offers a welcome alternative to the chaos and downhill dash... Adolph Hitler comes to mind... Could it happen here? I think so.
