I finally got around to installing the 1-ton rear brake cylinders in my 2500. All I can say is Wow! I can't wait to tow something. Thanks guys!

Did you just get cylinders for a 1 ton '95.

I have not heard of this.

What difference is there in the cylinders and in the feel of the braking of the truck

Adam

I am still waiting to find out if my 98. 5, with dana 80 HB, 8800 lb option 2500 has the 2500 or 3500 wheel cylenders already in it.

I have had reliable sources give me both answers!

Braking

Congratulations! You are now on your way to better and safer braking. Now, take the next step and get an exhaust brake.

Read the threads on that subject.

Yes, I just used the cylinders for a 1-ton '95 instead. It stops with MUCH less pedal effort. The parts are a direct swap.

I got a lot of my information from an older thread enetitled "Brake Salvation" It's a must-read.

It's the best and cheapest upgrade I've ever done. Wish I had done it years ago.

Tow Pro,

Your truck should have the big 27mm rear wheel cylinders from the factory. All 2500 HD's got the big wheel cylinders after '96.

See Specs: http://dodgeram.org/tech/specs/brakespecs.htm

I could be wrong? :D :D

I would pull a rear drum and see if you can find a p/n on the cylinder. It will be casted in. I looked for my old ones. Can't find them.

So can you answer the question about what wheel cylinders they have, or do you just want to answer the questions in private? Jim Elliott

Deezul---on your 3500 you should use the 1 3/16 bore size if you want some more rear brake----You guys that want to pep up your 2500 a little more can use tha 1 1/8 bore---The number on the outside of the wheel cylinders is just a casting number and can be the same for all sizes---you need to measure the bore size to know for sure what you have---Sam
