What's In A Barrel Of Oil?

Something to think about.....

I will not be re-newing my membership here on the TDR. It has been a 12 year run for me, and due to a conflict with some of the moderators, I am leaving.

I would like to say its been a pleasure meeting a lot of you, Hammer, Sled Puller, ToolManTimTaylor, Proram, Jetpilot, Moving Violation, just to name a few. Special thanks goes out to Bob Wagner, although I have never met the man, I have made a friend over the past years.

For those that need to contact me, you can find me either at the DTR or on CompD, under the same username.

That long? I didn't last a day before getting a warning.

Don't go. Hang out just to read. It's not all about the moderators. You can stay and make fun of me. :)

Merrick

Heck, try 3 minutes till I got a warning on an ad I tried placing over there!! Commie you know whats!!:p

GIT,

Don't go, buddy..... too many chat freaks have left the building already... . it can't be that bad.

If ya wanna talk about whatever is bugging ya, please send me a PM. Maybe we can talk about it... ???...

Dan-

Well I still expect to bump into you at IRP again, even if you aren't around here.

I've walked away from the TDR for a time here and there... but I always come back.

I hate to see ya go, but I understand.

I have been a long time TDR member and LOVE the publication, the website and the people, but am not too thrilled with the moderators either. I like the fact that TDR is a pay membership site, which keeps the riff-raff out for the most part, but we can't even say the first freaking swear word on a website of adults! When I first joined, we could post numerous "smileys" and had a lot of fun, then the count was limited.

Overall, I love the TDR and the only complaints I have ever had about it are the occasional "over moderation" complaints.

Don't let the moderators run you off. Post the ones whom you have a problem with. It may be the same ones some of the rest of us don't like. Maybe we can get them fired if they are running off US, the customers.

If you have prob's with mods here, your going to last about a week on DTR

Jim. .

Hmmm, seems like I recently just had that issue over there.

Don't go. Hang out just to read. It's not all about the moderators. You can stay and make fun of me.

Merrick. .

Its not hard to make fun of a guy who puts his stacks outside his bed. Thats one of those big target deals which we could not miss,LOL.

Don. .

All I will say is this...

I somehow got a copy of what you sent to the one your having the beef with. I also seen the thread and know that there is a time and place for everything,if its handled with tact. That thread was getting more toward attacking and a big pile on instead of informative, like the one was on Comp D.

I too, have had my issues with the powers to be here and its been more than once. But,I will be the one to also tell you that when you have an issue Robin will take your call so you can get answers about your problems or get it rectified. Thats one feature that gets overlooked many other places and I can also tell you that first hand too.

Its your dime and just because your leaving it will not mean your not still a friend. I am always sad to see those who have contributed alot here leave as they are tough to replace,But time heals wounds and maybe a hiatus is what you need. I will see you again sometime and wish you all the luck on the other Dodge based board. Good Luck my friend until we meet again... ... Andy

From the Administrator

I've read this thread, and it is important for all of you to know that we (owners, administrators, and moderators) have only the best of intentions for TDR Members here.

We do make mistakes from time to time. But in every case, our intention is to keep the TDR a place where all Dodge Cummins Turbo Diesel enthusiasts (members or not) can enjoy hanging out.

We don't want to lose Git-R-Done. Several of us have contacted him to discuss the situation. And I think those have been good discussions. I hope he decides to stay. But whatever he decides, we support him.

For the record, we do try to control swearing and piling on here. Not because we personally have issues with those things (heck, we think they can be fun to watch), but they can get out of hand and people can be negatively affected.

Any time you see an action here you feel is questionable, email or PM me. My email is rpatton@ix.netcom.com. PM me at TDRAdmin. I know Steve St. Laurent feels the same. And I know the moderators do too. Unlike some other sites, the owners really are involved and really do want to keep this the kind of website you want to use.

Thank you all for your support.

I think you should stay! I know others who have left, now they regret it, or they come back.

I personally swear too much in real life. I feel it's good that somebody tries to regulate that on the forums. Yes, sometimes I think a good swear word makes what you are trying to say, but most of the time, it's not needed.

Do what you feel you have to, but don't leave mad.

Have a good one, I'll see ya someplace!

Heck you can look up any of my past post, I am pretty low key and I have had problems on DTR so I just dont go there.

And for the profanities, I tend to slip a few choice adjectives a little to often in daily conversations so a Lady that used to work with me made what she called the "Wheel of Adjectives" and every morning I had to spin it and whatever word came up, I would have to substitute in place of whatever profanity I would say. Made for an interesting day, she put down words like Fabulous, spectacular, Sacramento Kings, etc

Wow! I've been here awhile, and I think I'm very naive to the conflicts that must go on behind the scenes. I had no idea so many take offense at the moderation. In fact, I hardly ever notice the
presence of the moderators!

Every now and then a thread like this gives me a glimpse behind the scene and I think, "this sounds like a soap opera!"

Git-R-Done, I sincerely hope whatever precipitated this decision resolves itself to the complete satisfaction of all involved. I second Merrick's suggestion - retain your subscription just for the magazine if nothing else. Regardless your feelings about the forums, the magazine is a good resource.

Either way, best of luck down the road.

ISignal73 is ohhhhhh so right! I have had a few "minor fender benders" with the Mods here on TDR in the past. Most have been very thoughtful as well as motivated to resolve things in a mutually acceptable way. Some have not.

When you experience the Thorpe "my way or the highway" "the rules are for everyone else unless you are a law enforcement officer" "us cops are always right" and my favorite reply that I observed over on DTR from a currently employed law enforcement officer "sheep hate the sheep dog", I am certain you will realize that although TDR ain't perfect... ... ..... it and its Mods stand like redwood trees towering over chickweed plants in comparison. :-laf:rolleyes:

I will GLADLY pay to keep my membership here than to have free membership on a website run in manor similar to the GESTOPO and its thugs. As an American and a Veteran, I was totally repulsed by the behavior and treatment I observed over on DTR. Just my opinion.

Code:
but we can't even say the first freaking swear word on a website of adults!

This is the second biggest reason I stay with this site. I have memberships on other sites were swearing is allowed and the forums are unmoderated. Attacks start as very personal and degenerate into character assassinations. Those sites have lots of information but their tone and comfort level isn't worth visiting them. To the moderators, I know its a tough job and mistakes are made but keep up good work!

GIT, don't want you to go, I glean a lot of information from your posts. But, if you have to, you have to. Come back often and say hi. Good luck in your endeavors.

I find the posts far more entertaining than TV, and being very Cheap $35 per year for a Magazine (pictures and all!) answers, to a cry for Help will bring a Ton of suggestions, some, (and the same to you mister!) saves some many scarce Dollars. I have never been aware of any conflict with moderators, granted often I hardly know which way is up. Even if the wheel fell off my wagon, (gave the Cummins to my son) I'd still Grace the posts of TDR with my presence, (hope I got that right) We can all learn something from everyone. All the Best G-I-D
