I am a new owner of a '96. I didn't know anything about the KDP until I found TDR.

I asked the one and only mechanic in our town if he would check it out for me. He didn't feel qualified, and sent me to the nearest dealer (actually in another state).

The dealer tried to talk me out of it! They said in real life they had only seen this problem once or twice. I insisted that they check it for my own peace of mind. And OF COURSE, the puppy was partially out already!

It took the dealership 4 hours to try to figure out a way to tab it in, but they finally did, and I feel much safer.

Thanks to everyone here who volunteered their knowledge or experience about this, or I would have been up the creek sometime in the future!

THANK YOU!

amazing that the dealer couldn't do it inside of 2 hours. i did it ( i am not a mechanic) with another guy inside of 2 hours... ... pathetic.

Cool

I bought my 96 last year and thanks to this site I also had my KDP tabbed. Mine was about 1/2 way out. Now thanks to this site I'm spending all my extra cash on Bombing

I'm not sure if I'm saving any money because of these guys, but I sure am having a lot of fun:D :D :D

Same thing here! I am (was) not a real truck freak. . and figured my big ol' diesel would keep me happy.

Nooooo, I've spent too much time reading this stuff, and now have a "wish list" to keep my $ occupied for the next few years.

At least all that money will go to a good cause. .
