Thanks to the TDR, I got my truck back from dealer today! I had both axle joints replaced under warranty. I took it in on Friday morning. Drove 65 miles one way. Dropped truck off and was told to come back late in the day. So I drove back home as I had things to do. Drove back in afternoon to find out truck wont be done now until Monday. They couldnt get the hubs off the axle. So I drove back home mad that I had wasted 195 miles driving. When I got home I did a search on Hub Removal, and this is what I found:

http://www.tdr1.com/forums/showthread.php?t=120962.

So first thing this morning I called and talked to mechanic himself and read that to him. He said he would try it. Well I called at 3:30 today and was done. Mechanic said that most of the time they destroy the hub trying to get them off and that would have been one more day without my truck. He said that using the method I told him worked pefectly. I again told him and the service manager (whom I have been working on to subscribe to TDR) where they could have found that information. So I again gave them my TDR sales pitch. So again hats off to the TDR and RHamby for posting that information. Oo. Oh by the way! I was informed today, at the dealer, I'm my own warranty station. I thought I had purchased the 100,000 warranty. I didnt! 71,780 miles on the clock. He said he had to make a few phone calls and some ink changes to get them to pay for it. It was diagnosed two weeks ago at 69,000. It would have been in the area of $1000. 00 Ouch! So thank you dealer!

Glad everything worked out for you! I guess this means your going to re-up your TDR subscription come October. :-laf Lots of good info on the TDR. :D

Wow! WHamby's method certainly seems to be a winner. I do wish I could see it demonstrated before I have to attempt it, though. Seeing something done is much easier than reading it from the description.

Hopefully they put the hubs back together with some anti-seize? Works wonders the next time they have to come apart. When I changed the U joints on my 2nd gen one of the hubs had anti-seize from a previous seal relacement and came right off when I removed the bolts, the other needed the "TDR Method".

TDR has saved me a lot of time and money that is for sure. I am glad that the bearing trick is working well for everyone. It sure saved me a lot of cursing.
