Anyone own a diesel eXmark mower?

Stacks shaking truck

Two dollar fuel is not to be found around these parts, just noticed the Flying J in draper Ut was 3. 44 and the chevron in Centerville Ut was 3. 50. Just not right.

diesel price

I got it figured out. All stations carry regular gasoline but not all carry diesel so there is more competition for the sale of gasoline and the stations make up for it by pricing their diesel as much as they think they can sell it for.

i saw diesel yesterday for $2. 49 and regular unleaded for $1. 99, thats right, not a misprint, Wal-Mart in Mineral Wells, TX for less than 2 bucks. Was in UT this summer in my bike, every time I filled up I was glad that I didn't live out there. Dont get me wrong, some of the most beautifull country I have ever seen, but those fuel prives would eat me up.

I wonder if it's the local (State) fuel taxes that create the wide range of fuel pricing?

One of the things I've recently heard regarding the fairly dramatic drop in fuel costs is that the Oil Companys are a bit worried about all the talk of alternative fuel use, more economical vehicles and people just not driving as much. They're concerned that they may be cutting their own throats with the high pricing & that we may do something about it.

The other thing is that we have not had any damaging hurricanes impacting oil producing & refining areas of the country.

Last winter was not that cold & did not use up as much home heating oil.

Also, there have been some recent, new, crude oil finds.

I think that the variance in fuel has a lot of contributing factors such as state/local taxes, demographics, location, etc... until recently OK had the lowest fuel prices, but now they started adding more tax in and they are no less than TX (I used to push from NM to OKC for fuel to get it cheap).

I also think that fuel is coming down due to the upcoming elections... no one is going to tell me otherwise... Bush is an oil man, from oil country... he isn't going to squak while his buddies are getting rich... but to keep the republicans in power, there has to be something done to keep people happy with them... I feel that after elections, prices will start to creep up again...

Gas is around $2. 39 here... down almost $0. 70 in under three weeks... diesel is still around $3. 09... maybe lower elsewhere, but it is still higher than gasoline... IMO, home heating oil season is coming around and they are not going to lose profits when they got you over a barrel...

Just filled up Saturday at $2. 39 in Albuquerque. Same day saw stations from $2. 39 to $2. 98. Pays to shop around.

I paid $4. 49 a gallon for diesel on I-40 between Needles and Barstow back in July when we were heading west for vacation. Needless to say, I bought just enough to get to Barstow.

Diesel here where I live, (Roy Utah) Diesel is from 3. 25 to 3. 49 now. I just fueled up with BIO-DIESEL from the Sinclair station here at 3. 11. 9. Their sign says:"BIO-DIESEL blend 100 % US FUEL"! Now I ask, why if this is 100 % US fuel is the price so high?

If the real reason for high fuel prices is because the foreign crude is high, it would seem US fuel should be less costly!

I DO KNOW THE REAL REASON FOR HIGH FUEL COSTS, but I will not post about it anymore!

I was talking to the head of one of the big fuel distributors in the state and he was saying there was a big fuel shortage in the Intermountain west, hence the prices. . They started putting biodiesel in a bunch of their pumps to offset the price and lack of supply. . Luckily it is back down to about $3. 20 now but that is still a lot. .

Here in Phoenix, Arizona we were near the $3. 00 mark, then dropped to $2. 77 the end of last week, last night it was $2. 63 today it was $2. 60. Been watching gas go down for the past month or so finally diesel is going down. Paid $3. 29 in Bakersfield Ca. last week. Heard the ULSD was going to cost about an extra 8 cents a gallon more, hope the price drop isn't temporary. We will see.

I'm by no means defending the refiners or oil companies in what I'm about to say, I fully believe there is price gouging going on to some degree or another.

I work for Flying J hauling crude to the refinery in Salt Lake City and know a couple things most of the public doesn't.

First is that the refiners in Salt Lake, ie: FJ, Chevron, Tesoro, Silver Eagle and Holly only get approximately 25% of their crude from Utah oil fields and most of that is very waxy. This means it is more of a complcated process to refine into fuel. More complex process=more cost. The other 75% of the oil is imported from Canada via pipeline.

Second, last month for whatever reasons, (I've heard several) the wax that is refined out and shipped back east to be used in other products, was unable to be shipped for about a 3-4 week period. This caused a serious cut in refining capacity and actually caused a good portion of the shortage that occurred. We actually had to reduce the amount of crude we hauled for about the same amount of time.

As of the first week of September we were back up to full capacity as far as hauling and the refinery was back up to full refining capacity. And of course the price of diesel has dropped about 35-40 cents/gal in the last couple of weeks at the truck stops I really pay attention to when I'm driving.

As I said I feel there is certainly price manipulation going on but there was an actual problem for a time which might explain some of the delay in price reduction.

I thought it was very odd that after the governer of Utah asked for an investigation as to why the fuel prices in Utah were higher, the prices at the pumps went down!

Just yesterday the prices of Diesel were around 3. 45/gallon. Today they are down as low as 2. 99/gallon.

My thoughts exactly! I got fuel at a Smiths Fuel Center in West Jordan (90th South & Redwood Rd) last night for 2. 91/gal then with my $0. 15 off coupon... lets just say it was the cheapest tank of fuel since i bought the truck!

Well, as of today 9-21-06, the BIO-DIESEL I purchased on 9-18-06 for 3. 11/9 is now

2. 89/9! The Govenor of Utah asked for an investigation as to why the fuel in his State was so high! That was on 9-19-06. Guess it must have helped, Huh?

We paid $3. 499 in Salt Lake a week or two ago on our way back from Alaska. That was most we paid in the states. The cheapest is here in Albuquerque at $2. 39. We paid as much as $4. 90 in Dawson City, Yukon when you equate liters to gals.
