i too am happy with mine. . no egr, no cat. . the only thing i would change in a few years maybe is a face lift [that 06 front end looks good to me now] if it ever gets wrinkled up

CH - you do know that you can limit the forums that your searches show, right? That is a TDR exclusive feature that I spent quite a bit of time programming for exactly that purpose. You just turn off the forums that you aren't interested in and when you click on view new posts or do any searches (unless you specifically ask for all forums or a specific forum) none of those posts will come up. On the main forum screen just click on the S in a circle on the left side - if it's red with a slash through it that forum won't show up in searches, if it's grey it will.

Other than the heated leather seats in the 06 I like my 01 better, sure the 06 is prettier but the 01 has character and mine just so happens to steer just as nice as the 06.

Of course not "EVERYONE" knows that the 2003s are the best ones EVER built.

If only they made a 6 speed that would work !! Notice my sig, just hammered my '93 across town and back to deliver a trailer... felt good... . damn good !!!!!

I love them ALL! I bought my '03 before I really NEEDED it because I wanted to get the last of the trucks before the new emissions wave. At first, I did not like the 6 speed and the "feel" of the common rail engine over the "old" 12 valve. My first Dodge/Cummins was a 1993 250 4x4 5-speed. I LOVED the peppiness of the engine and the "big truck" sound of that VE pump engine. They also sound better than the newer trucks with just a simple straight pipe, muffler replacement. For ease of service, ya can't beat the first gens (we have 3 in our company). For ride, they suck! Very little suspension travel, lots of wind noise and rattles. I love my 1996, which I ordered and bought new. I never figured I would ever have another truck that I would love as much as that one till I got used to my 2003, which I bought in September of '03. I have been THRILLED with this truck and especially the engine. The common rail design is flawless, powerful and smooth. The only weak link seems to be the clutch, which I will do as on other trucks and install a South Bend. A friend recently bought a 6. 7 cab and chassis. Since I equip my trucks with a flatbed, that is actually the perfect truck for me. Cummins has really done its homework on that engine. It is CLEAN, powerful and quiet. Dodge has finally offered us a choice with cab configurations and the straight frame rails for aftermarket beds.

All the various generations have their advantages and disadvantages, but overall, the more they evolve, the better they get! I am not rushing out to buy a 4500/5500 cab-chassis, but judging by my friend's 3500 c-c, they are a well built truck/engine. A mega-cab 4500 4x4 6-speed with flatbed for me and a mega-cab 4500 6-speed with enclosed service body for my service truck is sure a NICE thought though!

By the way, if you ever feel "lonely" in the forums, join the rants in the political forum. That's where I like to have my fun.

TDR has been a great experience and I have learned a lot that has helped me appreciate my trucks and my love for diesel power even more. Yall are a great bunch of guys. Without the members, these forums would be useless.

I'll have to agree with ACoyle.

On the web you can stay with the forums of your current truck or move a head to the newer or go back in time and learn about the older trucks.

The TDR magizine keeps in touch with all three generations plus the future engines,equipment and trucks.

Everybody knows that the 96,97 & 98 models were the best engines made. If it were not for the KDP there would be no problems. P-7100's rule .
