On both my '96 2500 and my '98 3500, a rotation keeps the wear even. I do this every 5K miles at an oil change. My tire guy told me based on the way the mechanicals are setup for the 4x4 RAMs to rotate at lest every 7500 miles. I went 20K on the '96 and the fronts were cupped and the rears were worn in the center because they were over inflated for the weight I was carrying. I got 75K miles on the original tires on the '98. I would think that I was doing something right. Experience is a mother...

Ha! Now I got them  ...

Unreasonable, my butt. They rotated my tires according to "their, better" way, not the owners manual way. Because they're the experts, yeah right.

Come to find out that the Wrangler GSA tires on my Dodge have asymmetric tread - there is a distinct difference between "outer" edge and "inner" edge; My outer duallies and my front tires now have the inner edge to the outside, resulting in clearly audible resonance around 60-65mph. In fact, the tire itself even says "This Side Inwards"... Had they, as I requested, rotated my tires according to owners manual, they would have been correct.

I'll go to the 'experts' at the dealership tomorrow morning to have these tires fixed - for free! Don't you just love it when things fall into place :D. Only bad thing is that I only figured this out after putting 1000 miles on the tires, of which almost 500 were towing

LOL I don't rotate,, I can't seem to get 10K outta my rears before they have left themselves all over town, and the track.

Now my 4x4, those get rotated. but I do like the way a "noisy" 36"x14. 5" tire sounds :). Call me wierd.

zari,, they got you good,, be sure to pull the boot out of your bum and give it back to the SM, because he kicked you good 'n hard.

That behavior is not cool. Good thing you found some hard evidence, I hate when you know something is wrong, and all the warrentier says is "prove it" (eg, Lift pumps).

I put some new meats on my little 1500 4X4, and ordered/bought OWL, which really look good, to me.

I went to pick up the truck, they pulled up, I didn't say a word, just bit my lip, hmmm, and without saying a word the SM said it will only take a 20 minutes, sorry.

THATS how your dealer is supposed to connect, no arguments. THATS the dealer that still sells us tires, 4-6 sets per year.

OWL Does look better, to me, I shouldn't have to say it, shouldn't have to ask.

Final Chapter

Don't wanna drag this on too much, but thought I'd post the "resolution" to this mess...

Met with the owner of the dealership this morning, explained my beef, and he agreed that what was done was unacceptable, he apologized, had the service manager and the sales manager apologize, and had me 'hooked up' with the Service Director for all my future service needs (I will deal with that guy directly in the future). I asked for free service up to 36,000 miles , and got 2 free warranty service vouchers (incl. oil changes/tire rotations, even with Rotella oil) - 50% of what I asked for...

They also re-rotated my tires, correctly this time, while I was chatting with the Service Director about Diesels, Vipers, and torque curves :D .

We'll see how they do!

Even though the dealer was in the wrong in the begining, it seems they patched everything up nicely.

I like the way you handled this, not over-reacting, Very Professional! Good Job.
