THE 2001.5 ETH/DEE 2500 3.55/LSD MYSTERY?

Initially my ordering dealer told me, based on what their 3rd part ordering software said, that I could not get 3. 55's and DSA (SureGrip rear axle) on my 2500 4x2 ETH/DEE.

I found a fellow TDR member whom just got his 2001. 5 2500 4x4 w/ 3. 55's and LSD and he was gracious enough to send me his invoice. Upon showing it to my dealer they spent two+ hrs. w/ DC folks to learn, or come back and tell me.

"IF YOU ELECT DSA on a 2500, you get 4. 10 gears as a no cost add... "

complete hearsay, that is what I was told, but if you folks have anything that show's 3. 55 and LSD together, possible your window sticker may show axle ratio and Suregrip rear axle... you could further my cause.

Additionally, if you have a 2500 ETH/DEE with the LSD and you wanted/ordered 3. 55's, you may want to nose around and see if you did get the axle ratio you wanted.

I am not sure this matter affects 3500's at all, which is wierd because both rigs use a Dana 80 Hybrid if I am not mistaken?

Anywho...

My dealer had told me the same thing. Was clear as day on his print-out, had to have 4. 10 if I wanted the limited slip. Entered order on 7/8 that way.

Heard from others here (Mick2500) that they had ordered with the 3. 54 and LSD. I called my dealer and they changed my order. Accepted 7/10. I am currently D1 status, have a VIN and a ship date of 8/21 all with the 3. 54 ratio and limited slip differential on order printout. Will be more confident about this when I drive it home, but this combination can be ordered from factory.

Mad Max!!!!!!!! I have personally been in the order book at the dealer and with my own eyes seen the 3:55 and limited slip!!!!! If ANYBODY tells you it can't be ordered they are full of B. S. !!!!!!!! I guess I could go to the dealers and rip a window sticker out and post it here!! Pete

Not that it matters but when I ordered, my dealer asked for my choice of rear ends. I asked for Elle Macpherson's. #ad
OK, no, he asked me if I wanted the LSD. I opted for the open diff. I'll stick a locker of some kind on there if I get around to it. I just like the way an open diff handles on the road which is where it will be 90% of the time. Anyway, just making the point that the Sure grip should indeed have been an option with the 3. 54 ratio.

I 100% agree w/ you... however, I have been unsuccessful in securing a window sticker or build sheet that specifically states:

2500
ETH/DEE
DMD (3. 55's)
DSA

One of our colleauges sent me a copy of the Dealer Invoice on his 4x4 2500 with DSA however my dealer countered w/...

the Invoice just shows cost items and the 4. 10's are "now included w/ DSA" at no cost?

I think it makes about as much sense as a kick in the head, however, I JUSTICE and yours truly are going to prevail, I am going to need some sort of DC documentation beyond the "Juen White Book" which just reads "Tentative".

If anyone could help, potentially via fax or a scanned image via E-mail, I beleave you can see my e-mail profile, if not post and I will fix it.

I second what Pete said. The 3. 55 is standard, the 4. 10 needs a code. So, don't specify the 4. 10 code and make sure the LS code is on the order sheet and you'll get your 3. 55 and limited slip. That worked for me...

I had the same problem as you. My dealer said the same thing. He said whenever he tried to order the 3. 54 LS, it would come with a 4. 10. After reading about many who had the 3. 54 LS, and after digging a lot, I finally got someone from DC on the phone with my dealer to tell him how to order it.
He had to order the LS which automatically put the 4. 10 in it. Then he had to have his district manager in Milwaukee go back into the order to change it to the 3. 54. It's like an option within the LS option. It worked, and I have it.
There was a thread on TDR the other day about some really good DC guy - it listed him by name. I'd try to get that guy hooked up with your dealer. Beware: Many of the people that answer the DC 800 number don't know about this little trick, so they can't help. Your dealer must not be in on this little secret that DC has about ordering this option. My dealer is a straight up guy who just didn't know until I helped him find out. It's pretty pathetic that it has to be this hard to get the gear you want ordered.

I've got 3. 54 lsd. I've got the window sticker that shows I paid $285 for the lsd. I haven't jacked the rear end up and spun the tires to confirm, I've just taken DC at their word(possible mistake). I do know that I have the 3. 54 based on rpm at highway speeds. I can fax you the window sticker if you still need one.

Thx All!

As it stands, my unit is allegedly ordered and has been edited DMD/DSA/ETH/DEE as it should be!

Unfortunately she is on restriction for the ETH portion of the equation I beleave.

Hopefully I'll get a VON early next week so I can confirm this myself.

I appreciate everyone's help w/ this.

I'll resume my expecting father in the delivery room pacing now. =)
