Last night, Ryan (Cooker) and I got together to photograph various air darns on his truck (in heated shop, of course - LOL). We both really like the looks of the plates with the tow-hook cutouts (pictures to follow in another post). We started playing around a little more and came up with another really good looking plate. It has slots rather than the round holes for lights.

I like the looks of this new plate so much, I am deeming it the air-darn "classic".

If you are not interested in mounting driving/fog lights, and do not have factory tow hooks, this may be the air darn for you.

Let me know what you think:

With license plate:

If you live in a state that requires a front license plate, here is our cardboard mock-up of what it might look like :)

Request your order form now

If you have already received your order form, and want this look, just write "Classic" somewhere. I'll know exactly what you mean.

If you have already submitted your order form, I will contact you (or you could let me know), to find out if you would rather have one of these.

If you haven't requested an order form, DO IT NOW !!!:D .

Send me a Private Message with your mailing address and I will send you one (after I make the revisions to add the "Classic"). (Private messaging helps ensure these are sold only to TDR members).

The classic air darn really looks sharp! Just got my order form today. I have to check with the boss to see if the Christmas budget is completely gone or not.

Randy, do you think any of the PIAA rectangular lights would work in the slots? Might look really good.

The holidays are over, time to get your orders in!

Just $40. 00, how can you go wrong?

Send me a Private Message with your mailing address (for an order form), or with any questions, etc.

air darn

SWEET looking.

A few questions: 1). other than great looks, does it also serve a function?,2). what is the material made of, and 3). is it easy for a "non mechanic" to install?

To briefly answer your questions,

One of the main functions of the DARNS is to allow TDR members to easily spot each other coming down the road. It looks natural enough, that most people wouldn't even notice it, but when you get used to seeing it, trucks without it look "empty".

It is made of highly buffed stainless steel, so it will not corode or chip from road debries.

It is VERY simple to mount - 10 minute job, once you gather the tools (drill, etc. ). It entails drilling 3 holes (using a supplied template to locate holes), and mounting with bolts (included).

I have done some other posts about the "DARN", so you should be able to find more information/pictures by using a search.

Or, send me a private message with your address and I will mail you a FREE order form, along with some additional information which should also help answer your questions.

What if?

What if you don't have the stock spoiler? Can the air darn (love the name!) still be mounted? If so Please send me an order form.

Sorry,

You need to have the plastic dam for mounting to.

They are available thru a stealer for about $50, but there are people who have purchased them from a truck accessories place for around $30. You may also want to check with a body shop. I do not have the part number right now, but I did a posting earlier, asking for it. You could search for my (boonsur) postings in the "Product/Accessories" page.

I thought about making a mounting kit that would bypass the plastic dam, but decided the plate hanging by itself would look funny. I looked into full width plates, but it was visually too much (distracting - looked out-of place).

I need an order form. Where can I get the factory tow hooks? I want to possibly install them before getting an air darn with the cut-outs. If they are too expensive I'll get the air darn with no cut-outs.
