I know its a little late to chime in. I am 24 and am on my 4th Cummins Dodge. I bought every one of them myself and after driving high mileage pickups, I finally got to buy a brand new one. My 91 was the best of the bunch. I bought it with 120k and drove it to 315k, only repair was a $990 injector pump. Then I had a 95 then 97 now 2001. This 2001 is ok but the 91 was one hell of a pickup. I would buy it back right now (I see it at least once a week pulling a gooseneck) if I could afford to. I just hope this 2001 serves as well as the others have.

Well I guess I would be considered pretty young at 26. I went from an '89 Nissan Maxima to my present '98 Ram 2500 12 valve. I had wanted one of these trucks for some time but they were way out of my price range. I then found one at a body shop that had been wrecked but was mostly fixed. It was the perfect configuration I was looking for but still a lot of $$$. Well a few weeks later I totaled my car by way of an F-150 turning left right in front of me and cutting into my lane (opposite direction). Glad it was other guys fault! I was abelt to get more for the car from insurance than I could have sold it for so that prompted me to go look at the Dodge again and the rest is histoy...

I love my truck although it doesn't look the greatest yet without some of its "makeup" I can't wait to be able to get it finished up and painted. Hmmm... long story there, just thought I would share how I got my truck. :D :D

... And then my mom said, "I don't care you bought the truck and it's your money... " Just thought I would clear that up.

I'm going on 49 and my wife says I'm going on 9. She gets a chuckle when she asks me if I've huged my truck today. [well of course i have]

From the results of the poll,

It looks like everybody owns a CTD, from all ages.

The results are nearly equal.

I'm 18yrs old, so I had to click on the 20-30 range.

I got my truck from my Dad, He works in the oilfield down here

in Laredo, Tx. He puts about 50,000 miles a year, averaging about 20 miles an hour, well over half of the driving is loaded with about 19-30K Pounds, and traveling down rough dirt roads.

The truck has nearly 100K miles on it now, and I figure the motor is just about finished breaking in,, almost.

I couldn't ask for a better truck, I have a 98. 5 with 100K on the motor, a new lift pump, a new TPS and a new injection pump,, it's like the best thing in the world, If I could trade up to a newer Dodge I wouldn't do it. I personally think the 98. 5 is the Best model year.

I would only trade up to a, Dodge Cummins 3500 4-Door 4wd Long bed six-speed, preferably red.

Well, sorry for the long post, I seem to rattle on about things like this.

I am coming up on 46 years old. It took til I got married to a horse lover to realize the potential of a Cummins. I always had gasser trucks before then, and thought slowing down on the hills was normal.

It ain't normal any more!

I'm 33, owned a 92 CTD and now have a 99. Both trucks fully loaded. I drove a little nissan to preserve my 92, because I put a lot of miles on a car. That all ended when a deer tried to jump the little POS and smashed the windshield and crushed the roof in. The animal got up and walked away. After I had it repaired I sold it. I will only drive my TRUCK. I'm also trying to make my wife give up the minivan for a truck.

With 200 votes, at the time I write this, it amazes me how even the graph is. I'm sure there is a big difference in how these trucks are used, between the top (younger group) and the bottom (elder group) though. It's fun to see young and old gather together to discuss their trucks. Kind of a bridge for the generation gap.

well I just got the membership deal done, so this is my first post. I was 24 when I got my first Dodge (97 Ram 1500 4X4), and 28 when I got the second (01. 5 2500 Cummins 4x4). Wait does that math add up? Oh well, its to late to engage the brain. Well at least I got the first post out. Man... that felt good.

I just noticed the poll was closed? Was there a reason for that? I took the liberty of "opening" it back up... . I wonder how long its been closed?

Hey, what about me?

I haven't been paying attention to this thread. I'm 21 also. Bought the truck when I was 20. My first two were old chebbies. I got sick and tired of working on the them one day. My girlfriend's Dad called me at work and told me he found a truck for me. I didn't take it too seriosly, and niether did he because I had been looking at them for a long time but never wanted to make those kind of payments. We went to look at it the next day, which was a Sunday. Monday night I test drove it, and Tuesday night I had the details worked out and brought it home:D. Should've seen the look on Mom and Dad's face when I pulled in the driveway as I made SURE they knew NOTHING about it. Kodak moment for sure. :D :D :D

Love the truck. Now I can't wait for the crew cabs. I'll have one of those!

Anyone esle step directly out of a small truck to a ram?? I went from a 91 Toyota 4x4 to a 99 2500 Cummins. Bieng 6'3 215 the toyota was a little small. I loved how I could go down the road in my ram and not be able to touch the passenger side window lol. Air conditioning is nice, power stuff is nice. And after a 2 hour trip I don't here exhaust and tire noise buzzing through my head for hours on end. I am 22 and it seems people think I am loaded with cash since I drive a diesel truck??

Six years ago last month I got my '95 Ram after I was forced out of my '84 Toyota 4Runner (11 years old 154k miles and running strong for a 4cyl) after some Bozo (no insult intended to the Clown formerly of WGN) dropped a 2 ton, 14 foot tree into the middle of the interstate one evening. It was pitch dark. I hit the flat side of the log where it had been cut down w/chainsaw, did an immediate Joie Chitwood style flip in midair, slid uphill for over 200 feet on my head, did a halfturn CW only to see three set of headlights and clearance light aimed driectly at me. Fortunately the had stopped traffic in all three lanes, but I still panicked nonetheless. Though I was about to become ROADKILL hangin' upside down.

The strangest thing is all I need to get her running (not exactly roadworthy) again is cut the left side wheels and wheelhouse roof off with a torch, and then replace the drivers seat for more than the obvious reason. :D Only the windshield and sunroof glass was broken out. Thank GOD for the Toyota engineers who designed in the inside the body rollbar just behind the drivers and fornt seat passenger's head.

The frame and front axle had no visible damage except for a 20 pound chunk of wood stuck between the left front wheel and rotor assembly where the wheel got peeled back around the front lockout hub.

One of these days, I'm gonna turn it into a stake bed.

I'm suprised to see that many guys and gals under 30 that own Dodge Diesels. These aren't cheap vehicles to purchase, and they certainly aren't getting any cheaper in price.

I was originally looking at the Ford diesels, but their price drove me away. I like my Dodge, and I originally purchased it so I could spend more time developing products for the Samurai crowd. To go from driving a Samurai for 3 years everyday and everywhere to the Dodge was awesome. The Samurai has transformed to being a full time project, prototype vehicle and the Dodge has begun to change its role.

Now it too is my rolling protype and test bed. But hey, it sure is much more fun to drive everyday than anything else I have ever owned.

I grew up with Mopars and after driving the current Dodge, I see why I am partial to them.

Now where is that 4 door?, my kids are getting too big for the back seat and road trips.

I went from an 85 toyota truck to my Ram ( I am 28 by the way) I loved my toy... but I hated the not so good fuel milage and the lack of power made me mad all the time... so I started looking around for a ram..... and the price always scared me... so I looked for a wreaked one... finaly after a wierd chain of events I found one in michigan that had rolled ( must have been in a corn field, corn stalks and mud every where on the underside) after a bit of pulling and pounding, a new (used) door and new hood fender and windshield I drove the sucker home... . boy that was great. . I had a grin on my face that wouldnt quit:D :D ..... so anyway thats how I was able to afford getting one, new truck payments would put my 6 feet under right now:eek: . . Jim

Ps. anyone know Larry Morell from michighan?

My first truck was a '69 Dodge D-200 camper special. I inherited my Dad's 1976 Toyota and sold the Dodge (I want to track it down some day, buy it back and drop in a Cummins!) I replaced the cab on the Toyota (it had been broadsided sitting in front of my parents house) and converted it to a dually. :D

I've wanted a Dodge Cummins ever since I first heard about them, but I couldn't afford one until late last year, when I bought my '90. (I'm 24)

I love my truck!!!

I'm just a RCH behind "old man" (Rob) Hanson in age. I always had gasser 4x4s but decided to go with a rattlin Cummins 4x4 in mid '98.

..... would have in '92 too but the supply and demand of these trucks still favored the dealers hence, the buyer -vs- price hostage situation.
